Natalia Vega Maisonave is an award-winning writer and director from Camuy, Puerto Rico. From making home movies with a cheap video camera, she went on to obtain her bachelor of Arts in Audiovisual Communication at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. During her college years, she worked in up to 20 music videos, commercials, documentaries and short films–while simultaneously running the student organization Playground Cinema as its founder president. Recently graduated, she wrote and directed her debut comedy short film “Pan de la Esquina”. The script was selected to be produced as part of the 14th Puerto Rico European Film Festival along with five other projects. Her film won “Best Short Film”, “Best Cinematography”, “Best Script” and “Best Actor” after being shown in theaters. Moving forward, Natalia Vega Maisonave aims to continue giving visibility to the common Puerto Rican experiences that are often overlooked by the mainstream film industry.
