Mike McMahan, co-creator and writer of the animated series "Rick and Morty (2013-)", is the creator and one of the executive producers of this new show.
Excerpts from Star Trek Lower Decks Cast, Character Designs, Ship Details Revealed:
In a twist, the new series would not follow the adventures of a heroic starship crew a la nearly every other Trek series, but instead would be a comedy featuring the unsung starship workers who do the day-to-day jobs that allow others to perform the heroic deeds.
Entitled Star Trek: Lower Decks, the new comedy series about the forgotten grunt workers of Trek is being developed by Mike McMahan, a huge Trek fan and former writer for Adult Swim’s breakout animated comedy series Rick and Morty.
...including the revelation that Lower Decks is set during The Next Generation era of Trek. It was also revealed that the show will revolve around four ensigns working on an insignificant Starfleet ship (so don’t look for an animated Jean-Luc Picard to make any cameos).

CBS has already blocked the reactions and like /Dislike ratio guess they didn't like what people had to say. BTW the ratio likes/dislikes when I checked(and it wasn't blocked) was 2,6k likes and 3.1 k dislikes also the comments(now no longer available) were largely negative .And to me the trailers looks like a bad mash up of Final Space,Rick and Morty and an animated version of The Orville.Kurtzman should get a restriction order he should not be allowed within 500 meters of anything Star Trek.Question ? How do people get to the deflector array looks like you can't acces the structures holding the nacelles .Do they transport crew to that section?
