Yeah, John is freaking creepy for sure. But Debra...that's one stupid, naive woman who is beyond desperate for the company of a man. Her batting average for men sucks, and husband #4 is by far her worst. There are more people concerned and looking out for her than she's looking out for herself.
Every episode that I watch, I find myself shaking my head at how dumb Debra is.
When John said..."hit me and I'll make sure you never get up again"...I said, no he didn't!
Okay Debra. It's time to smarten yo ass up and take this jackhole out first. By any means necessary. Preferably permanent and dead.
I agree! Her willingness to forgive all of the crap that he has done to her family is unbelievable. At least this time, she seems serious about getting out.
I was a bit confused about the postnup conversation with the lawyer. I had no idea that a marriage of what, 2 months, could put all of her assets in jeopardy!? The lawyer made it sound like John would be entitled to half of everything, including her buisness. That just seems crazy to me. It's not like they have been married for 20 years.
I thought more time had gone by regarding the marriage. Nevertheless, I believe what the lawyer was attempting with the postnup is to protect her and her assets going into the future because we have no idea how long the marriage would last. Say they make it to a year or two. Even if they were to separate, they'd still be married and the clock would still be ticking.
So glad I checked if anyone else was watching. I needed someone to vent to. I've been holding it in all this time. 😤
Oh I hear ya! It's been frustrating to say the least! Debra is just so soft spoken and passive with everything. Did her nephew ever tell her what John said to him, about being happy his father murdered his mother? I assumed he had told her about that, but then she ends up going back to this flipping guy. I was so happy her daughter showed her the video clip John sent her, also having her read those messages as well. I'll be honest, the first episode or two, I thought Debra's kids were just over the top spoiled, entitled brats the way they spoke to people. Especially when Veronica first met John. She was extremely rude, I mean he is a complete psycho, but she didn't know that at the time, lol. Maybe Veronica's attitude stems from her mother's dating/marriage history. John is completely unhinged though. Him threatening the attorney was just nuts! I don't understand how he thinks he can just get away with stuff like that.
I do seem to recall the nephew telling her what John said. She definitely heard if from Veronica though.
Yes, she is extremely passive. You know, I think about her soft spoken voice every time I watch the show. I have to say, I think that her voice has kept her breathing this long. If she was an angry and loud woman...he would have assaulted her by now or worse.
He was stupid. Did he not think her daughter wouldn't show her the video clip or text messages? Remember how he treated his own sister? And, you know he killed his father, right? Can't say I felt sorry for the man. He created that monster. The things he made him do as a child was disgusting.
OMG! Veronica was beyond rude, selfish, entitled piece of work. The way she walked around with those handbags 👜 and how she thought of and spoke to people was also disgusting. I agree, part of it probably had to do with her mother choosing the wrong man all the damn time. Speaking of voices, the little sister's voice annoys the Hell out of me. She was a bit bratty too but not nearly as bad as the older one.
Yes! They didn't outright show him do it, but yea, he totally killed his dad. His dad was awful too. The sister seems like she turned out pretty normal considering what she was raised around. The younger daughters voice is annoying too! I just don't get how John acts at all. He has this attitude that he's untouchable. He goes around threatening everybody. Is he that delusional that he thought Veronica wouldn't show Debra the video? I mean, come on! I am hoping they keep this up as a 'true crime' anthology series. I'm sure there are tons of other stories that would make for great TV. I think this one is only ten episodes, but I could be wrong. I did really like this latest episode, the whole backstory with his ex and the cop that was after him was great!
There are only two episodes left. I wish it could continue beyond that too.
I loved every single episode. Have you seen them all? A couple of the earlier shows had back stories too. Like the stories that featured the mother played by Jean Smart when her son in law killed her daughter but managed only to injure himself in an attempt to kill himself. Funny how that's always the case with these pussies.
Jessica girl...my newly found friend. It's almost midnight.
Happy New Year! I will check back with you in the future. 🥂
First two episodes; no real inclination to continue, despite the powerhouse work of stars Britton and Bana. The title is no doubt creating a strong aversion in many potential viewers, all of whom read those words and envision the lavatory at Taco Bell after some fathead decide to wash the Grilled Stuffed Burrito down with a liter of prune juice
Yes, I've seen every episode and, like you, have loved them all! The flashback episode with the mother and son in law was particularly rough. I don't know that I could bring myself to not only forgive, but then speak up in favor of the person that killed my child. The mother is very soft spoken like Debra as well.
Happy New Year!!
@mechajutaro that's too bad it didn't click for you. I feel it's gotten better each episode.
Well, that was a truly terrifying story! I'm happy John wasn't able to finish what he started and that Tara made it out of that mess. That whole situation was just insane!
Yes! It was very intense! Thank goodness she was able to defend herself! I don't think John would have stopped with the younger daughter either. I believe he would have tried to take out her entire family. He was one sick puppy!
I'm recently separated, and this show has made me all the more terrified of the prospect of ever getting into the dating scene. It's pretty scary!
Yes, it is scary. I'm married and pretty happy...thank God. But if I wasn't, online dating would not be a road I would travel. People effing lie about who they are. Not that you can avoid that from meeting someone the old fashioned way, but online seems to be too risky for my taste.
Did you watch the documentary about the real Debra and her family and the real John? OMG...that woman was so lucky after being so stupid. She brought the devil into her family's lives.
The older sister didn't want her face shown in the documentary. But the younger sister who killed John and her mother appeared openly on camera and they showed the pictures of the real John on life support. The knife through the eye is what did him in. If it were not for that fatal stab...I do believe the bastard would have recovered.
Don't be afraid to date. Just be careful and tell your family and friends about who you are going out with. And, never let your guard down. Back in the day, me and my best friend would always share information with each other on someone new we met as a safety precaution. Everything I knew about the guy...where he lives, phone number, where he works, car he drives, description, etc. I would share with her, just in case. She would do the same.
The first red flag...it's time to go and part ways. Because, there will be more red flags to come.
My brothers work in law enforcement and this one guy who I met and went out with once ended up in jail. He called my home which I still lived with my mom and threatened me and called me all sorts of names. He allowed his bunk mate to do the same. I told him about my brothers but he thought I was lying or bluffing. The last harassing call I received from him and his boy is when I went to my oldest brother. I never heard a peep out of that bastard again. Which is why John never messed with that woman who had brothers in law enforcement.
I'm glad John Meehan is dead. I hope he rots in Hell for all eternity. He deserved the ending he received.
Everyone of his victims...including his own sister and first wife, who he had two children with are also happy that he's dead. Because they can all live their lives for the first time, knowing that he's no longer walking the earth.
I wish it could be that way for every victim.
I didn't watch the documentary, but I may try and catch it on demand if it's available. The look on John's face when that woman talked about her cop brothers was priceless! I told my sister-in-law about this series after she talked about being hooked on lifetime movies, lol. She said she's going to check it out.
That was actually nice to see John's sister comfort Tara after all of that. She definitely seemed relieved that he was gone. He was just toxic through and through! I still find it so crazy that he got away with all that he did.
I thought the same about John's sister and even Debra suggesting they meet so shortly after it all happened.
It's pretty interesting that every one of his victims were all decent human beings who felt remorse for things they didn't do or cause and then you have John who is less than human and felt nothing for anyone.
It's still available to watch via On Demand. But it's on the Oxygen network and it's long...120 minutes. Nevertheless, they go way back into his past.

Hey Jessica Girl! OMG...that is not what I was expecting! But you know what...all is well that ends well.
The title of the final episode..."This Young Woman Fought Like Hell" had me on edge throughout the entire episode up to that bravado scene.
