Discuss I Am Frankie

Have not watched "I am Frankie" but isn't this show a remake of CBBC's "EVE"? See for yourself https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eve_(2015_TV_series)

Yeah I know :( Some native English speakers are not willing to understand some (easy) British or Australian accents/dialects or even try to get into stories with maybe some different social structures (mind the switched gender roles in these two shows?). I wouldn't consider Eve a successful show. There were some stupid or cheesy parts but hey it's a show for kids (and the whole family).

Nonetheless when there's a possible remake it should be mentioned if there is a original idea and where it maybe originated. Sometimes the original gems gather dust in some cabinet and the remake is advertised as neverbeenthere and even re-imported muahaha

Thank you for the discovery - will look into it :)

I have watched "Eve" and I would say it has a similar plot. Eve is British and Frankie is American. They're both "androids" made to look like teenage girls. There are differences in stories, British (love the accent) and American language and culture, school and home situations, but all in all it's your typical teenager with growing pains, which is complicated by the extra (super) abilities it possesses as an "android". Of course there are also some people who are after them for their own purposes.

"Eve" does evolve more into an action science fiction show in the later series. The first season of "I Am Frankie" is like I've described above, about Frankie learning how to be a teenage girl with love interests, problems at school, with parents and so on, while trying to hide her true self. I don't know if the second season will continue on that path, or it's going to be more like "Eve".

"Eve" was fun to watch, I liked how the character was portrayed by Poppy Lee Friar. Sometimes it felt like watching "The Sarah Jane Adventures" and "Doctor Who" (especially series 3). If you like comedy, action, scifi and cool effects, then you should certainly watch this. relaxed

I saw it when it was first broadcast on CBBC (2015-2016). Perhaps you can watch the episodes on one of those video websites, like the one showing "Small Wonder"?
