Discuss The OA

I enjoyed the series for the most part, although I am confused about more than a couple of things. No big deal, it's probably my fault and I may have to rewatch or read the message boards to tie a few loose ends. My main problem with "The OA" was the dancing towards the last minutes of the finale. I mean, I get it: the dancing had a purpose, but it could have been shown differently. Seriously, it looked so goofy and stupid that I actually felt secondhand embarrassment. I have to say, even though I find most of the characters likeable (especially the teacher), for a split second, I kind of wanted them to get shot.

More shows need interpretive dance. I'm sure things would've worked out differently for Walter White had he had a routine rehearsed.

Yes. Crazy dance for every show. Heal people in Emergency Room. Control people to vote for you in House of cards. Tame walkers in TWD ;)

Could at least work for Saturday Night Live ;)

I'm cynical....cynical and have been uh, somewhat "close" to two mass shootings in my life now unfortunately (one more than the other), and I have to say, there's no way the random guy would have stopped his rampage just because people started flapping about. I mean, it's a nice thought, but unfortunately, not how life goes. When one of those is ready to do carnage, that's their goal at that point. As soon as those five stood up, they would have been the first to go. I hate that I'm so cynical buuuut it's true. They wouldn't have even gotten the chance to do the flapping. And also, why did the guy start shooting outside ...that gave them all time to barricade doors. Again I'm cynical but from experience....he wouldn't have done that either.

I think...it almost felt too much of a plot contrivance to have that there at the end. I think especially because it was unrealistic how it played out. Also as soon as you could tell a shooting was going to happen I was like "come on, really?" can't I ever just watch some dumb escape show and not have the bad realities of the world like this always pop up fdsjalk

Anyway, weird show, but I guess I'm curious to see what happens next lol? And so I guess she wasn't really lying? The books in the box were just to throw them off? That seemed too random. Maybe it'll get explained. And what was up with Alfonso (the hot olive garden guy) and his last name? I mean...they called him "French" throughout and then in the last episode, she seemed to trip over his name on the phone...and then he calls himself Alfonso Sosa at the end, not French. D-did I miss something or was that a purposefully left hanging end?

I heard the Russians were doing tribal dances all during the US Presidential election last year.

My god, he really is hot. I'm guessing "French" was his nickname, because it was clear from before that his actual name is Alfonso Sosa.

And yes, I also think the books didn't imply that she was lying the whole time. It was just a little something so the rest of the characters would think that Prairie was lying the whole time. I'm curious about the second season... perhaps not anxious, but simply curious.

I think her confusion about his name when she was asking for his number added to my confusion thinking his name was important suddenly.

I wonder why she did conveniently have the Homer book in that box haha. I can get the other books...she could have been reading up on those things since she's experienced them. But then to have the Homer book in there too..... That just seemed like another too obvious plot device.

But yeah I'm like you...I'll watch to see where it's going, to see if she ever finds the almighty Homer and to see what became of them and HAP and all. But not edge of my seat about it.

The books were brand new from Amazon. She was either researching the subjects or that strange cop in the house planted them to manipulate her friends into believing she was lying.

This! My theory is that those books weren't even hers to begin with.

I couldn't help but giggle. I felt embarrassed for them too in a weird way! Lol The hissing and fluttery sounds they make!

Would you have preferred the riverdance?

No dance at all, my dear.

Care to share your alternative to the dance?

Yes, the riverdance would have been awesome! Lol OK, as long as they included the hissing and fluttering thing! 😆

A riverdance would have definitely got them shot.

It felt like I was watching a frilled dragon mating ritual, so cringe worthy.
