Discuss 13 Reasons Why

Season 2 has gotten a lot of flack, but personally I thought it was really good. It started out a little slow, but once you get a few episodes in I feel like things really got going. The acting and storytelling were all top notch. I loved how the writers dug deeper into the issues presented in season 1, and explored how those issues effected the characters. In many ways it was a reactionary season, but I think with the way things were presented they told a very compelling story. At the end of the day I thought season 2 was just as good as season 1.

I started watching this show only because the downtown scenes are filmed in my hometown of Vallejo, Ca. I've been on the set, so I decided to watch the episodes. I liked season 1 so I waited anxiously for season 2, it was a slow start better middle, but the ending was disappointing in that everyone suffered little consequences for their actions. I guess it's to show that rich people can get away with doing awful things. Also, the epilogue was just awful.

I think there are 2 reasons why the characters didn’t suffer consequences for their actions. For one, in real life it’s entirely possible for certain people to get away with a crime(s). Not even necessarily if you are rich, but obviously it helps. If the actual evidence isn’t there then they can’t truly convict. Secondly, I’m pretty sure they want a season 3. The left a number of cliffhangers at the end of season 2. They want these characters around to continue the show. My guess is though is Bryce’s actions will eventually catch up on him.

I finally sat down to watch season 2 this past week. It started a little slow but a few episodes in and I was once again hooked on this show. Around the middle of the season is the high point. The ending is so disappointing though but I kind of saw it coming. As I watched the entire season I kept thinking, there is no way they had a case against this school. There just wasn't enough evidence. So yeah, that was highly disappointing. I'm glad there is another season coming, maybe the writers can show us some justice. But it seems as though they wrapped up Hannah's storyline and will move forward to another topic.
