Discuss 13 Reasons Why

I think that Hannah learned to hide her feelings, and the problems that she was having in school, from her parents because they didn't teach her how.

Everyone is shaped by their parents, but I didn't see as strong a connection to the events as you did. I believe suicide results from a mental illness. We are wired to survive. To be capable of taking your own life suggests the absence of a coping mechanism that combined with the presence of a mental illness places the cause and effect directly on the victim and not the people surrounding them. The people around them suffer greatly and blame themselves, but I hope there is a day when they can see beyond the pain.

Parents could have raised someone who doesn't let the opinions or actions of others decide how she feels. Emotions are still something inside of us and we can learn to rise above them. We can even choose to be happy to an extent.

Her parents did not seem to do much, they seemed way to preoccupied on their failing business. In Season 2 we learn of the husbands cheating and even worse them laughing it off making a joke of it when Hannah finally tells them something letting them know she heard someone watching her and taking pictures of her in her room. Seriously at least comfort your kid if that's to hard put motion sensor lights outside their room.
