Reported Problem for Encounter at Farpoint (1x1)

Extra Details: Episode 1 and 2 aired back to back on September 28, 1987 as one two hour episode. The guide indicates that episode 2 is The Naked Now airing on October 5, 1987. The episode title and date are correct but it is episode 3. All of the episode numbers from that episode down need to be increased by one.

We list the episodes as per the original broadcast. Consequently, this 2 hour episode should be listed as one single episode and the current listing is correct.

Why was this closed?
This among several other TV shows unfortunately have this problem which bumps episode images off by 1.

As indicated, it was originally broadcasted as a single 2 hours episode and was only split in later reruns.
I quote from the episode page : "It was originally aired as a two-hour (with commercials) TV movie, and subsequent reruns typically split the episode into two parts." and "The episode was made as a pilot for the new Star Trek series, and was a double length episode at Paramount Television Group's insistence."

superboy97, from a simple browsing standpoint, that policy makes total sense, but from a usability standpoint, this policy effectively nullifies the benefit of utilizing TMDB as a reliable source for metadata with media servers. Jellyfin for certain, maybe others too. Many other entries on TMDB split two-part episodes into two entries, even if they were originally aired as one, and this is preferable for media server users.
We have two valid approaches here. One looks nicer on a website, but wrecks metadata for media servers. The other is less clean from a website standpoint, but is perfect for media servers.
I do think this policy is going to become a growing problem for TMDB. You're likely to continue to get report after report about this issue as media servers gain popularity. Who can we can talk to, to discuss altering this policy?
