Having escaped from Vanon's fortress, Guin, the twins and Istavan attempt to cross the Kes River to reach the Kingdom of Argos. The journey is not easy and the group must not only deal with dangerous creatures, but Princess Amnelis and her White Knights.

Après s'être échappés de la forteresse de Vanon, Guin, les jumeaux et Istavan tentent de traverser la rivière Kes pour atteindre le royaume d'Argos.

人それをケス河と呼ぶ

砦から決死の脱出をしたグイン達は一足先に逃げていたイシュトヴァーンの提案でモンゴール領を離れるべく河を下ることを決意。しかしその河は「死の河ケス」と呼ばれていた。またその様子をモンゴール大公の娘、右府将軍アムネリスは見逃さなかった。イシュトヴァーンは自分の運を開く「光の公女」を探していたが、それはリンダではと感じる。しかし或る夜リンダに突如何かが憑依し彼に不気味な予言をするのだった。
