In the ep the late Zeb's first cousin Zadok comes to Walton's Mountain to pay a visit and he finds out Zeb past on three years ago. There is talk about how close as cousins Zeb and Zadok were. It seems very believable that this man was a relative and old friend of Zerb's (amazing especially considering how we never see Zeb anywhere in this not even in a still picture). But we have to remember Will Geer had nothing to do with the character of Zeb by this point and the latter was only now only and strictly a product of the writers. I have written similar stuff to this in my other postings. The actor playing Zadok was probably countryish in real life and Will Geer himself came from rural Indiana where his dad had been a mailman --this Norman Rockwellesque lifestyle of the future actor's was violently interrupted when the dad ran away from home for good when Geer was only 11 and he grew up with tremendous tragedy!
Now to the real weird part of the story. The prim and proper and highly beautiful Corabeth Godsey does not take well at all to cousin Zadok. But recall that she is John's like first cousin. That makes her a relative of Zadok's also. Strange the writers do not seem to remember she is also of Zadok's blood. When she finds fault with him her husband Ike does not say something like "Corabeth , you too were originally named Walton!". Did the writers actually forget Corabeth was related to John?
