After the death of his grandfather, Nello goes to the cemetery with Patrasche. It is actually Alois' birthday and she waits in vain for her friend. Finally she finds out what happened and meets Nello at the grandfather's grave.

Nach dem Tod seines Großvaters geht Niklaas mit Patrasch auf den Friedhof. Eigentlich ist Anekas Geburtstag und sie wartet vergeblich auf ihren Freund. Schließlich erfährt sie, was geschehen ist und trifft Niklaas am Grab des Großvaters.

とうとうネロはこの世に一人残されてしまった。おじいさんの死を知り、ジョルジュやポール、そしてアロアも涙を流すしかなかった。ネロはジョルジュが遠くの町へ鍛冶屋の修行に出る事になったと聞き、いっそうの寂しさを募らせる。

할아버지가 떠나고 네로는 정말 혼자가 됐다. 네로는 너무나도 슬펐지만, 평소와 똑같이 우유 배달을 나간다. 이 소식을 들은 조르주와 폴은 자기 일처럼 슬퍼하며 눈물 흘린다. 네로의 친구들은 네로를 위로해주려 하지만, 네로는 계속 할아버지를 떠올리며 슬퍼한다. 하지만 현실은 아직 슬픔에서 헤어 나오지 못한 네로를 가만히 놔두지 않는데...
