Grandfather Jehan works at the vegetable market in Antwerp. He convinces Nello that the work is not exhausting him. Nello wants his grandfather to take it easy and helps him for the next few days. But Jehan doesn't like that at all, because he wants his grandson to concentrate on the painting competition.

Großvater Jehan arbeitet in Antwerpen auf dem Gemüsemarkt. Er überzeugt Niklaas davon, dass ihn die Arbeit nicht anstrenge. Niklaas will, dass der Großvater sich schont und hilft ihm die nächsten Tage. Das ist Jehan aber gar nicht recht, denn sein Enkel soll sich auf den Malwettbewerb konzentrieren.

絵を描いている間、おじいさんは町で働いている。ネロは自分の知らぬ所でおじいさんが苦労している事実をコゼツから聞かされ、大きなショックを受けた。そんなネロに、おじいさんは働くのが楽しく、少しも苦にならないと話す。

코제트의 이야기를 듣고 할아버지를 찾아 달려간 네로. 하지만 시장에 계시던 할아버지는 일을 하면서도 즐거워 보였다. 네로는 일이 즐겁다는 할아버지의 말을 반신반의했지만, 조르주와 폴에게 할아버지가 휘파람을 불었다는 얘기를 듣고 조금 안심한다. 그래도 할아버지 혼자 일하시는 걸 볼 수 없었던 네로는 일을 돕겠다고 나서는데...
