Actually I find that the backdrop you uploaded has poor quality. It looks like you blown up the original TheTVDB Bot image increasing the resolution but also amplifying the image artefacts.

A higher resolution does not always means better quality as it is written in the contribution Bible:

Your goal shouldn't be to find and upload the biggest image possible. Instead, try to find the best size/quality ratio. It's better to upload a smaller but much better quality image than a bigger and lesser quality one.

Mmm, yeah, I didn't blow up the original image, but I have found the source and I don't think its a trustworthy image source. However, I think I decided to upload it anyway because I thought my image still looked higher quality (edit: while also being larger in size) to me

Am I assessing images incorrectly? When compared side by side (my image is on the left, and TheTVDB Bot's image is on the right), and zoomed in to make objects (i.e. faces) appear similar in size, my image looks (to me) smoother/less pixellated (higher quality). Am I using the wrong program? Should I not be using Paint?

Also, notice how there seems to be a smudging or a loss of data or something happening to TheTVDB's image on the right collar of that guy's shirt. The guideline I go by, and correct me if this is a bad guideline, is, if an image is higher quality (when compared by zooming in to make objects similar in size) AND larger in size, then that image is the better image to use.

Edit: Now, thinking about it, my guideline isn't quite the same as "Instead, try to find the best size/quality ratio". (TheTVDB Bot's image is probably the higher size/quality ratio image). Do you have a better suggestion for a method to compare and assess which image has the best size/quality ratio (using Paint)? Or should I use another program?

In fact your comparison method is not fair. As they do not have the same resolution you cannot compare them with the same size on the screen.
On your screen capture, you zoomed the TheTVDB Bot image at about x11 and your image at x7.5, this is why the one with the lower resolution looks more pixelated.

Here I zoomed both imaged at x3 (300%) (your image on top). You can see that the artefacts are present in both images but a little more obvious in your version. I hope this clarifies what I meant by "poor quality".

That means my image should be removed right?
