I watched it earlier tonight - and WOW! Definitely a well done, engrossing, at times gripping, season finale. And certainly some major developments!
A couple problems I have with the episode though:
1) Realistically, how long and how far is wet mud going to track all over the place indoors, when the mud originated from another location (that's apparently not particularly close by). I could understand if the location were right next door, and then if no walking through an Oxford University parking lot and on sidewalks, etc., before reaching indoors, were necessary.
2) A particular happening involving Chief Supt. Bright was seriously unbelievably incredible (though I appreciated the moment in question). Anyone who's seen the episode, I'm confident you know precisely what I'm referring to. (I've kept this paragraph deliberately vague, since the season finale aired in the US just hours ago, therefore I realize many who follow the series haven't had a chance to watch it yet.)
Question about the very final minute of the episode: Am I correct that the house that we see then is the one Morse always lived in during the Inspector Morse series?
Btw, if you enjoy not only this series but also the others in the Morse franchise, be sure to check out the following TMDb message boards:

Bratface, judging from the station call letters you mentioned in a different discussion, aren't you in the Seattle area? I'm surprised you're so poorly served by PBS there - unless you're on one of the islands in and around Puget Sound or something.

I live in Tacoma & we have 'access' to KCTS (which I can no longer pick up) & KBTC (the red-headed stepchild). Since streaming channels really picked up KCTS thought that they could get more money from the viewers by cutting back on their signal thinking that we would rush to pay for the PBS Passport channel! What galls me is that they are publicly funded but still expect us to pay even more. About 6 months ago KCTS sent me an email asking for money, I sent them an email back asking them why I should give them money for a channel I could no longer watch & to not send me anymore in the future? A lady wrote back scolding me for being rude! KBTC is fine but they don't show every program that KCTS shows & when we do get a show we have to wait about 10 days before they show it! They also no longer have regular programming on Sundays, it's all pledge drive junk over & over!

I've just transcribed and added excerpts from a new TV Guide magazine article about Endeavour's Season 7 to this thread, which I'm pointing out here as brat and merry aren't yet subscribed there, therefore may not notice it for a while otherwise. Good article, that I think you'll each (as well as of course wonder and lima) be interested in.
