I watched it earlier tonight - and WOW! Definitely a well done, engrossing, at times gripping, season finale. And certainly some major developments!
A couple problems I have with the episode though:
1) Realistically, how long and how far is wet mud going to track all over the place indoors, when the mud originated from another location (that's apparently not particularly close by). I could understand if the location were right next door, and then if no walking through an Oxford University parking lot and on sidewalks, etc., before reaching indoors, were necessary.
2) A particular happening involving Chief Supt. Bright was seriously unbelievably incredible (though I appreciated the moment in question). Anyone who's seen the episode, I'm confident you know precisely what I'm referring to. (I've kept this paragraph deliberately vague, since the season finale aired in the US just hours ago, therefore I realize many who follow the series haven't had a chance to watch it yet.)
Question about the very final minute of the episode: Am I correct that the house that we see then is the one Morse always lived in during the Inspector Morse series?

Do you think perhaps you guys should post Grantchester comments on its board rather than the Endeavour board?

Well merry I suppose, but since it wasn't mentioned until the end of page 3 & by the OP, it shouldn't be a big deal (he did include the link for Grantchester)?

lol! In a spirit of complete levity, all of you should post on the Perry Mason board, as well.
Hamilton Burger: "Your Honor, I object to Mr. Mason's question. It's not proper cross-examination."
Perry Mason: "Mr. Burger, you brought it up in your direct examination of your own witness!"

Here is an article about the start of filming of season/series seven. Yippee, the mustache is gone!

Very glad the moustache is gone: It was unfortunate!

It kind of reminded me of the 'porn' staches of the 70's & 80's. But really, not many men can carry off a mustache, big or small. To me, Evans has a 'baby/innocent' face & a mustache just looks ridiculous.

I don't know if PBS programming is the same all over, but this finale will be re-run here next week. Last night, the previous Ep. #3 "Confection" was aired. I don't understand why the first two weren't - it seems odd, but maybe I somehow missed them. Incidentally, I was alarmed when, on another thread, it was mentioned recently that the forthcoming Season 7 will have only 3 episodes. I feared it was a bad omen that the show was winding down to a close. But I'd forgotten that each season usually only includes four episodes anyway. A couple had five. SO, I'm hoping the shorter season is only due to COVID-19 conditions that curtailed production - because after watching "Confection" last night I was reminded just how excellent Endeavour is!!! The writing, acting, directing, editing, music, etc., etc. are SO fine. The murder mysteries are challenging puzzles, and the character development, particularly of the regulars, is always intriguing. At the very end of "Confection", you may recall that after work on a rainy night, Morse is seen peering through a pub window where he sees Thursday sharing very hearty laughter with Box, Jago and several others. Instead of joining them he walks on, alone. IMO this brief scene, that had no dialogue, is simply BRILLIANT!!! I remembered how I felt when I initially saw it: GUTTED that Thursday was enjoying the company of those corrupt, crooked cops so much.
An interesting, sneaky little factoid in the episode that I missed the first time around was, during discussion of an Oxford student's suicide, it was mentioned that he was acquainted with a student named Clinton, a Rhodes Scholar. This is undoubtedly a reference to Bill Clinton, who was indeed there in the late 1960s on a Rhodes Scholarship.

I have two PBS stations in my area, the 'main' one showed the first two episodes last night, 'Pylon' & 'Apollo' between 9:00 -12:00. 'Confection' & 'Degüello' will be shown on August 2 at the same time. I watch on the 'red-headed' stepchild (the main one refuses to come in & I refuse to pay them to watch through their 'passport shakedown'), so I don't see them until 10 days later. Maybe your station aired them earlier than usual?

I posted here about the 'magic' number 33 (episodes) restriction of the Morse spinoff series, that might not happen this time.

Oh no w2w!!! I wasn't aware of the 33-episode limit!!! Well, I'll have to especially savor what few episodes remain... but hopefully the show will break the mold in this regard. I worry about Shaun Evans being the one to want to bail out the most since it's often a younger actor who does so, fearing typecasting I guess. But he, and John Thaw for that matter, both share something in their aspects that I've found compelling in both series. That is, a kind of sad detachment in their eyes that so effectively drives home the message that Morse is a loner, a perpetual outsider.
Bratface, I checked all of the schedules and couldn't find evidence that the first two episodes were ever aired recently. Truly weird! And I'm with you -- I pay SO much already for TV that I refuse to opt for any more subscriptions. Sheesh.

Also my area's two primary PBS stations (I also get three secondary ones, KIDS, NHK, and a more regular type PBS station but that's just various reruns, mainly of self-help seminars, "talking head" type programming, some stray documentary reruns, and some taped stage productions, etc.) didn't newly re-air Season 6's first or second episodes, instead proceeded, last night, directly to Episode 3, "Confection".
I watched a chunk (perhaps 25 or so mins. worth) of "Confection" (of course also watched and enjoyed it last summer) - though regrettably unceremoniously wound up dozing off (no fault of the show, simply was tired) throughout most of it. Next thing I knew, weary eyes re-opened and there went Morse walking up the sidewalk, outside the pub he had just looked through the window of, and the closing credits rolled! Thus, most of that episode's "important" parts - such as everything regarding the case resolution - got missed. Drats!
It's somewhat surprising PBS didn't opt to rerun all of Endeavour's 6th season, though I guess figured they'd/they'll just run that season's two final episodes to serve as transition into whatever the new season is going to hold - last season's final two episodes being able to serve as refresher of to what point things, regarding the police force (including George Fancy's murder aftermath, also corruption) developments and all ultimately got to.

Well considering I will not be able to see said episodes until NEXT Monday, I'm hoping that they are the FOUR episodes in order. But my 'main' PBS station did show two episodes last night (according to their schedule) & will show the second two on August 2 with the premiere of series 7 on the 9th.
After reading your post I checked the 'red-headed stepchild's' schedule & it appears that I will not be able to even see series 6 again as they have gone back to another of their ENDLESS pledge drives (they just had a 5 week one about a month ago!).

Hey gen, this is OT but I forgot to leave it in the last post. Do you know why Travis has changed the timing of the whole 'login' bs? It used to be every 2 weeks (mine had worked out to happen on Sundays) but about 10-11 days ago (Wed. the 15th) I had to login, then again last Thursday the 23rd & again today. Do you have any idea what's going on?

Travis needed to force some system updates, on two separate occasions, during the last two or three weeks, which resulted, each time, in everyone needing to log back in. We're all still, otherwise, continuing on the usual every-14-day log-ins (from whenever each of us has most recently logged back in). So the two recent log-outs for everyone were just so Travis could install updates and reset the system.
