Ame is in Junior high and lives with her father, who is a butterfly collector in search of the Troides Magellunus. One fateful day, he decided to take a trip to Taiwan in hopes of catching the elusive specimen. Unfortunately, something goes wrong…. and Ame is left with only memories of Father… Memories that seem to have allowed him to return… as a spirit guide for Ame.

Sakurai Tomoharu est un père célibataire qui élève seul sa fille Ame dont il est très proche.

Il a pour passe-temps d'attraper et de collectionner les papillons, il est même allé jusqu'à Taïwan pour en attraper un très rare. La légende raconte que la personne qui attrapera ce papillon deviendra un fantôme.

Après qu'il soit rentré de Taïwan sans se rappeler de ce qui s'y soit passé, des choses bizarres commencent à avoir lieu et Ame s'inquiète.

Szakurai Tomoharu egyedül neveli 14 éves lányát, Amét. Kedvenc szenvedélyének hódolva, elutazik Tajvanra, hogy megfogjon egy ritka pillangót, a Troides magellanust, melyet "Fantom lepkének" is neveznek. Úgy tartják, hogy aki megfogja, az maga is fantommá válik. Az erdőben Tomoharu megcsúszik, és beleesik egy gödörbe. Mikor magához tér, otthon, a lakásukban találja magát. Ame örül, hogy épségben visszatért az apja, de hamarosan furcsa dolgok kezdenek történni körülöttük...

중학생인 아메는, 아버지 토모하루와 함께 단둘이 살고 있다. 그런 이유에서인지 때로는 아버지와 친구 같기도, 혹은 연인 같기도 한 사이이다.

토모하루는 본인의 일이면서도 동시에 취미인 나비 채집을 위해 집을 비우는 날이 많은데 아메는 그런 아버지의 빈자리가 더욱 크게 느껴진다.

어느 날, 환상의 나비라고 알려진 '알렉산더 호랑나비'를 잡기 위해 대만으로 간 토모하루는, 나비를 쫓아가다 그만 목숨을 잃고 만다. 그러나 혼자 남겨진 딸에 대한 강한 집념 때문인지 토모하루는 유령이 되어 딸 아메의 곁으로 다시 돌아온다. 본인이 죽었다는 사실조차 깨닫지 못하고 있던 토모하루는 같은 맨션의 이웃 아키코로부터 본인이 유령이라는 충격적인 사실을 전해 듣게 되는데...

Ame Sakurai es una adolescente que está muy unida a su padre, Tomoharu Sakurai. Una de las aficiones de su padre es cazar y coleccionar mariposas. Su búsqueda de especímenes raros lo lleva a Taiwán para capturar un ejemplar de Troides magellanus, de quien la leyenda cuenta que quien la capture se convertirá en fantasma. Tras varios días sin tener noticias de su padre, Ame comienza a preocuparse. Finalmente, Tomoharu regresa a casa, aunque no recuerda cómo regresó a Japón ni lo sucedido en Taiwán. Ame nota cosas extrañas que comienzan a suceder a su alrededor. Con la ayuda de su vecina Akiko, Tomoharu comienza a reconstruir lo sucedido en Taiwán y llega a una conclusión espeluznante.
