I really enjoyed the first season of the show, I loved the depth and intensity they gave the story, while exploring the relationship between benders and non benders, continuing the story in an interesting and entertaining way. I particularly enjoyed the way the assembled Team Avatar, and the new world that they had created.
That said, I was extremely let down by the end of the series, and for a number of reasons. Yes, I very strongly disliked the Korrasami ending, I did find it a more forced, pandering decision that seemed more interested in being bold than actually making any real sense. Of course, add in the somewhat unbelievable mech showing up at the end, and Kuvira's frustrating 180, and I just felt like the show had gone seriously downhill. I also firmly believed that the second season was very weak, and retconned all of the development we saw in Korra in the first, but I had hoped that it was simply due to the shock of having what was meant to be a one-off miniseries turned into a full four seasons. Unfortunately, instead of finding a real direction as they went on, the show just seemed to meander, having some truly amazing moments, that did not lead into a cohesive whole at the end, with several different villains that ended up never being the best fleshed out or written, many plot conveniences, and a complete failure to continue with the themes and ideas already established and significant in previous seasons.
