š Best wishes to Jeffrey Combs .. š° š
He is a fine actor.
....his impersonation of Shran is superb .. I curse the producers for having denied us a 5th season......... having Shran part of the Enterprise crew would have been a treat.
Shran wearing Starfleet uniform...love the music too.

I enjoyed watching the friendship and respect between Archer and Shran grow.
These two had so much chemistry ...as much as Kirk and Spock had in TOS in my opinion.
I love Shranās slight grin when Archer tries to contact Enterprise after he slipped and hurt his leg on Andoria..Archer goes in defense mode
SHRAN: We can't stay here. We'll freeze to death.
ARCHER: Archer to Enterprise. Archer to Enterprise.
SHRAN: We're well inside the dampening field. ( something Archer knew ... )
ARCHER: It doesn't hurt to try
All odds were against Archer when he stood in place of the Tellerite and duelled against Shran .. At first it didnāt make sense that Archer won against Shran ( trained in combat from childhood ) but on re-wind I noticed that Archer gave Shran a knee kick very , very close to his nuts š„ .š

Loved the 3 part in season 4 about Shran and his planet etc..

Ciao Nex!
I donāt understand all the hate .. Star Trek Enterprise is a great series starting with the opening song . There is so much to enjoy ..Iām glad you recommenced it and I took you up on it.
Shran is a great character and Jeffrey Combs does such a lovely job in portraying him.
I read a couple of days ago that someone was suggesting Combs would be a great Dr.Boyce in ST : Strange New Worlds. Just the thought got me all titillatingš
https://trekmovie.com/2020/06/06/jeffrey-combs-tells-trekmovie-hed-embrace-star-trek-strange-new-worlds-role-if-offered/
Iām keeping my fingers crossed the producers take him on board.. I have not seen any other character played by Combs but I have read he did several Star Trek ones and they were all noteworthy.
Never heard about Combs until now so I have some catching up to do.
I saw a video of all the scenes he plays as nerdy, whacky Detective Dammers ..it had me in stitches laughing ..š
Okay back to ST: Enterprise...
Degra is another favorite of mine .. I was upset when he got murdered and heard as he was dying that his family would be eliminated too.
TāPol and Tuckerās relationship ..I love the episode where we meet their son Lorian.
Soval , Flox ...there is so much to love about this series

Except Lorian never really happened, since they erased that timeline and Tucker was killed in the series finale.

The writers could have not done E2 and we would never have got to meet the son of TāPOL and Tucker .. I view this isolated episode as a bonus ā¦a treasured gift.
Tuckerās demise in the finale instead was hard to digest ... unwarranted ā¦ Iām pissed off about it ā¦ not even seeing Shran and his cute daughter can absolve the writers from betraying fans.
Combs also played a telepath in the Babylon 5 episode, "Eyes."
Thanks for the tip and video ....I have never seen Babylon ..is it worth watching ?

Detective Dammers was hilarious with his cult infiltration stuff

Definitely. Even if DS9 basically ripped off the B5 idea, both shows are worth seeing on their own merits.
Start with the premiere movie, "The Gathering." Then go through the seasons. Depending on where you go, "The Gathering" might be considered a separate item, at least originally to see it on dvd you had to buy the "movies package" as well as the seasons. They did not include "The Gathering" with season 1, but they should have.
Perhaps more than any other shows, B5 is not something to have on in the background while you're making coffee or whatever. There are things happening even in season 1 that come back around later. Paying attention is rewarded.

I just found him hilarious as Dammers certainly in the extended cut of the film(I have the 3 DVD special edition of The Frighteners with DTS sound) Where his torso is basically a road map with all the "tokens and memorabilia" from all the various sects and cults he infiltrated.

I saw the film last night on my online movie link I have .
The film is okay ..not a fan of Michael J. Fox but the film is, without a doubt, worth watching just for Jeffrey Combs brilliant performance as Special Agent Milton Dammer.
Itās true his bizarre behavior makes us laugh but towards the end when he confesses in detail his harrowing backstory, one canāt help but feel in part empathy for him.. ā¦ heās a traumatized agent due to his 20 odd years working undercover dealing with the occult and the supernatural.
He was a sex slave for 6 months while filtrating Mansonās cult, his scarred chest is proof of how many times he was initiated in yet another cult ā¦ he was subjected to physical and mental abuse yet his loyalty towards the FBI and his country never wavered.
Milton Dammer quotes: My body is a road map of pain ā¦
He has need of a āterritorial bubbleā as he calls it because he no longer can stand being touchedā¦
He usually stands but he has a seat cushion in the car to ease the painā¦.
He canāt stand women screaming ..it makes him sick/vomit.
Dammer is considered quite lowly despite the sacrifices he made to keep our homes, lives, America safe , while Fox's character is dishonest making money on people, getting two ghost friends to haunt houses that he then duly exorcises for a hefty fee.
I could only find this poorly cut video of Dammerās confession ā¦from mark 7.50 to 10.15 you get the scene in the car at the cemetery where he tells Lucy ( the leading female character) what happened to himā¦ itās the best part in the film ā¦Jeffrey Combs acting is brilliant.

Well from what I got is that Dammers was not put on what profilers call a cool down period to work this out and get his experiences out of his system but it looks like Dammers went directly from one case to next for 20 years which explains his awkward behaviour .This why profiler after working on a case for a long period are taken off serial murder cases to prevent trauma and other psychological side effects watch the movie Citizen X where they explain this.

The series Profiler was really good too. "Jack Of All Trades" was seriously bad.

Exactly, done one job he was shipped off to the next assignmentā¦ yet the FBI must have seen he was losing it .He was really exploited.
Frank Black in Millennium ( loved the series) took time off from his job as profiler for the FBI and then later that group ( I donāt remember the nameā¦) also he tried to find grounding by starting a family ..not something I would recommend for someone in that particular line of work he shouldnāt have married or had a kid.
Even Special Agent Holden at the end of the first series of " Mindhunter " had a breakdown after dealing with / interviewing that serial killer in prisonā¦he didnāt want the bureau to know and his partner covered up for himā¦so here we are talking about the late 70ā..
Dammer said his first assignment was with Manson in 1969 and then for 20 years he continued working undercover ā¦so by the late 70s (Mindhunter ) the mental and emotional health of their agents concerned the bureau.
...so we can only presume Dammer was really good at his job and the FBI despite they knew his psych was compromised, they still sent him on field work.
Another gripping series I loved was American Gothicā¦ Sheriff Buck (?) had strange powers ..was he a demon or the devil himself....or did he just have powers because he was involved with the occult?
I'll check Citizen X (film?? ) and also Profiler suggested by knixon (thanks)...

Okay , I had no idea Babylon 5 had a premiere movie "The Gathering"...will start from there and see if I fancy it .... I don't drink coffee but I will follow your advice and avoid distractions so as not to miss any details....if I don't like it, I will just watch the episode with Jeffrey Combs : "Eyes"
Thanks for the insight.

B5 changes some in characters from the pilot movie, mostly the makeup of Delenn. But it's just that one 'jump' and then everything is fine.
The episode with Combs is just #16 so maybe you could make it through season 1 before deciding?
If you get Profiler on DVD, or from a source relying on them or something, probably including netflix, be aware that one episode - I think it's episode 4 of season 1 - was omitted from the DVD set because it's based heavily on the Police song "I'll Be Watching You" and they wanted too much for the DVD music rights.
That episode still broadcasts in syndication though - separate music rights - and I have it recorded. I can put it on adrive ("cloud") for you when needed.
