Edward Winter was mega-brilliant on original Mash ( see my postings) as Col. Sam Flagg but his one guest appearance on this sequel TV show was an utter flop. How? At jumptheshark.com one poster on this show's board there claimed that in this show and his last appearance on the original show he lacked a Frank Burns who actually believed in him. Now After Mash was less directed than the original series ( the latter where everybody came out brilliantly). When Mr. Winter showed on here to play Flagg it was a bomb of an appearance. Flagg was in court and just got shish-kabobed with ridicule. How come Winter, whose great performance on the well-directed original was uniquely his own, could actually not be good enough for just 22 minutes?

This was in the second season the Flagg appearance and while low ratings are usually the culprit in a show's cancellation ( by season 2 this show had 'em!) it is very likely this bad ep showed what a medicore idea the whole sequel series was to start with and how very rotten it was all turning out to be! CBS was weary and wary both of any TV sequel to their phenomenal ( though radical) cancelled hit Mash series and they gave this bomb the ax before this tepid series totally destroyed the critical acclaim of the orignal.
