Bold has left White Deer Park and is enjoying his new independent life. He first meets Crow then a friendly female Badger called Shadow when he unintentionally enters her den. He catches a pheasant for her and they become friends. She warns him about the gamekeeper, which explains the abundance of pheasants and a lack of foxes. Shadow gets caught in a trap meant for him and stays to release her when the human is on his way. However as he chews through the wire it springs back, releasing her but catches him in the eye. Later when hunting for pheasants, unable to see out of his injured eye he does not notice the farmer until it is too late and Bold is shot. Meanwhile back in White Deer Park, Charmer the remaining female cub of Fox and Vixen meets and befriends Ranger, Scarface's son. Scarface kills Mrs Hare and so Mr Hare moves his family back onto Farthing land. The animals plot to kill Scarface by stealth the way he probably did to kill Dreamer. They elect Adder but make the mistake

Der Fuchssohn Keck hat sich selbständig gemacht und sucht sein Glück außerhalb des Weißhirschparks. Als er eine freundliche Dächsin im letzten Augenblick aus einer Wildererfalle befreit, trägt er erste Blessuren davon. Auch der Weißhirschpark kommt nicht zur Ruhe. Doch während sich die älteren Vertreter der beiden Fuchssippen nicht ausstehen können, finden die jungen inzwischen Gefallen aneinander. Der Blaufuchssohn Streuner und das Rotfuchsmädchen Anmut verstehen sich prächtig.

Audace si avventura al di fuori dei confini del parco e farà amicizia con Ombrosa, un tasso che lui riuscirà a salvare dalla morsa di una tagliola ferendosi però a un occhio. In seguito sarà anche azzoppato dallo sparo di un cacciatore. Al Parco del Daino Bianco sua sorella Delizia conosce Ranger, il figlio di Sfregiato, dall'animo buono e leale all'opposto del padre; quest'ultimo intanto torna a colpire, facendo della signora Lepre la sua ultima vittima. Volpe decide di sistemarlo una volta per tutte incaricando Vipera di toglierlo di mezzo, purtroppo si dimostra approssimativo ordinando alle donnole di mandarle il messaggio che "chiunque riuscirà a liberare Volpe dalla Volpe Blu gli renderà un enorme servizio", e come risultato lei capirà di dover mordere una qualunque volpe blu. Compiuta questa azione, la vendetta di Sfregiato sarà inevitabile.
