Hello, I'm trying to get in touch with TMDB via email, but I haven't received a response. I'd like to know the costs of the API key if I wanted to publish my app on the Play Store and monetize it.

Hi @RasitAyaz Since it's the holiday break, our responses are going to be delayed until we're back in the office starting Jan. 2.
Thanks for your patience.

I'm also curious. At the moment, I'm offering everything for free in my app, as it's mostly a hobby project and I'm still building it, but if I decide to somehow monetise it with other features or ads, do I need a new license? And how much would it cost, given that I'll most likely have $0 income from it at the start and maybe ever :) Thanks!

When I created my API Key I chose between these options:
Developer
Professional
See what the 4th Developer option allows ad supported.
So I believe it is not necessary to change from Developer to Professional.

Thanks for the quick reply. And if for example I decide to offer a pro plan where users can have access to extra features? I am mainly worried if I keep on developing with TMDB API and then later decide to add this kind of functionality, they will block my API key or the commercial license be too expensive for a project that doesn't make enough money even to cover their fees.

This new possibility of yours, a Pro Plan, I donβt know how to answer.
Let's wait for admin Travis Bell to stop by.
Only he can answer.

@travisbell can you provide any information on this? I'm also interested in this kind of usage, but my attempts to reach out to the sales team have failed for the past 2-3 months.

I've been looking for that answer as well. I've sent a few emails but it looks like that mailbox doesn't get a lot of attention. My app certainly won't make enough to retire on but I'd like to offer the option of an ad free version for users. Not opposed to a reasonably priced commercial license but I'd like to understand what that looks like before I get too far.

Our process has changed since the beginning of the year. Make sure to email sales [at] themoviedb.org and either Joe or Steve will get in touch.
Thanks.

Hey Travis
Following up on this. I emailed the address above but havenβt heard back. Is there a public post that I could reference that has clarifying detail?

Hello @travisbell . Hope you are doing well. I'm a solo developer from India. I'm building a review site for movies, TV shows and books and planning to include affiliate links to the books on my site, which makes my usage of TMDB's API commercial. I have mailed [email protected] for a commercial license and waiting for a reply. Please kindly advise on the pricing for your API. Thanks for your valuable time.
