Forget the comic book heroes. America had a real life hero in Audie Murphy. Read his bio - The boy (and yes, he was just a boy when he joined the army in the second world war, ) went on to be decorated more than any other person - including medals from countries other than USA. To Hell and Back, was the film made about his life, and bravery, beyond the call of duty. I remember his baby face, and being disbelieving of his exploits. He died too young, in a plane crash. I will never forget him.
