Overview

Gartxot is a Twelfth Century minstrel from the Pyrenees who is sent into exile by the new Abbot of Roncevallis. This Abbot's goals are to capture Gartxot's only son, Mikelot, and forcefully convert him into a singing monk. After being captured and tortured, the child manages to escape and sings once again beside his father having him promise to never allow them to lock him up in the monastery again. Their songs become a symbol of the struggle against oppression. Time and time again with the help of folk, they manage to shake the authorities off. In the end, as authorities manage to surround them, Gartxot remembers his promise to his only son leading to a tragedy that to this day is remembered

Gartxot es un trovador del siglo XII de los Pirineos que es enviado al exilio por el nuevo abad de Roncevallis. Los objetivos de este abad son capturar al único hijo de Gartxot, Mikelot, y convertirlo en un monje cantante. Después de ser capturado y torturado, el niño logra escapar y canta una vez más junto a su padre y le promete que nunca más le permitirá encerrarlo en el monasterio. Sus canciones se convierten en un símbolo de la lucha contra la opresión. Una y otra vez, con la ayuda de la gente, logran sacudir a las autoridades. Al final, cuando las autoridades logran rodearlos, Gartxot recuerda su promesa a su único hijo que lleva a una tragedia que hasta el día de hoy es recordada.
