Created on the initiative of the architect Nuno Portas as Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Development of the First Provisional Government, the Local Ambulatory Support Service (SAAL) was a housing assistance program promoted by Resident Associations. The Portuguese Architecture of 25th of April is SAAL - an unparalleled movement in the history of architecture thinking, which served as an example and discussion for many other projects at an international level. |

Relato imperdível dos projetos de construção no âmbito da pobreza habitacional em Portugal, no pós-25 de Abril. Conta com os testemunhos de Álvaro Siza Vieira, Eduardo Souto Moura, Raúl Hestnes e Alexandre Alves Costa. Criado por iniciativa do arquiteto Nuno Portas enquanto Secretário de Estado da Habitação e Urbanismo do I Governo Provisório, o Serviço de Apoio Ambulatório Local (SAAL) foi um programa de assistência à construção de habitação promovida por Associações de Moradores que visava "apoiar as iniciativas de populações mal alojadas no sentido de colaborarem na reconversão dos próprios bairros investindo os próprios recursos latentes e eventualmente monetários." A Arquitetura Portuguesa do 25 de Abril é o SAAL - movimento ímpar na história do pensamento da arquitetura, que serviu de exemplo e de discussão para muitos outros projetos a nível internacional. |
