Such a sweet, endearing character, and when he is centre stage this picture is a thing of beauty. This film as a whole is not always so engaging, but rather is a slow burner, a thing of cumulative power, a succession of moments - by turns slow and uneventful or beautiful and moving. Only the second film from Ming-liang Tsai which I have seen but, despite the loungeurs, the overall effect is sufficiently powerful that I am keen to dig up more of his work. 7/10
