Shot in Quebec, Canada, The Subterranean Blackness of Roots is a 16mm film triptych which uses several processes specific to analog cinema (hand processing, optical printing, photochemical alteration). The film seeks to show the sensory experience of the invisible life of stones, plants and the nature that surrounds us. It’s a dive into the heart of matter, the essence of the vegetal world and the nourishing earth.

Tourné au Québec, La noirceur souterraine des racines est un triptyque sur pellicule 16mm utilisant plusieurs procédés propres au cinéma argentique (développement à la main, tirage optique, altération photochimique). Le film cherche à faire voir l'expérience sensorielle de la vie invisible des pierres, des plantes, de la nature qui nous entoure. C'est une plongée au coeur de la matière, « de l'essence vraie des fleurs, et des tiges, et des branches et des feuilles, soit ce qui les visse à la terre nourricière, cet immense réseau de captation de l'eau, des sucs, des bactéries parasitaire, bref, la noirceur souterraine des racines».
