At the ball game, Pete gets hit with a foul ball. So they left early after the 7th inning. When they arrived home, Grant turns on the sports report & the kids get angry because the Dodgers had a big bottom of the 9th to beat the Mets. Garry was angry that he missed an usherette dancing topless on top of the Dodger dugout! The Scouts razz Grant about his father's goof.
At the next Scout meeting, Garry invited a broadcaster to the meeting. He shows the Scouts baseball greats make errors as well. Grant forgives his dad.

Garry tries to fix his mother up with his Internist. The Shoemakers, Nancy, Garry, Garry's mother, and the Doctor all go dancing. After a little production number on the floor, his mother indicates she is having a wonderful time. Three days later, there hasn't been a call from the Doctor. Garry goes to the Doctor to find out why. The Doctor indicates he needs to wait a couple of years, to get over the death of his wife. We fast forward 2 years and the Doctor is ready to date again. The ballroom has turned into a disco and fashions have changed to turtle necks and bermuda shorts. Big Grant shows up, made that he's missed 2 years of baseball due to all the fast forwarding. But Grant is happy once he finds out he is dating Mary Lou Retton.

They attend a taping of ""It's Garry Shandling's Show"". Garry's in Grant's bedroom reading his secret poem to Lily. Grant leaves the show embarrassed.
Pete & Garry find Grant @ the Hollywood sign saying they could help get his girl. Garry removes the H-O in Holly & adds an I. Then he drops the D in Wood leaving WOO (Grant's girl is Chinese) Lily Woo! A song & dance number happens.
The show opened where the audeience had to sing the opening theme. The audience had to dance in the closing credits.

Garry gives Grant advice that it's OK to wait to have sex later. So Madeline & Grant agree to wait a while. At the near end, Mayor Bradley proclaims ""Grant Schumaker Day"" & no school.
The show ends in a hoe-down.
