Hey there Steve!
I'm not familiar with this content at all, but I took a quick look at this issue and I think the problem is episode 6/7 in this season! If you look at the Wikipedia entry for this season: They say that both episodes 6 and 7 aired on October 18th, 1974 under the title "This Case is Closed". IMDb lists 22 episodes, but TVDb and epguides also list 23 episodes for this season 1!
I can't say what's correct and how to find out, but I do think you/we have to find out what's correct or decide on one option. Mostly because of the already added data in the language translations of season 1. See, this is the English translation:
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/954-the-rockford-files/season/1/edit?active_nav_item=episodes&language=en-US
23 episodes, but the 23rd is empty without a description and a proper title. But now switch to the German translation:
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/954-the-rockford-files/season/1/edit?active_nav_item=episodes&language=de-DE
Again 23 episodes, but all episodes have a proper title -> because episodes 6/7 are considered to be Part 1/Part 2. This is not a huge difference -> but I think that's why 23 episodes were initially added.
Now, how to find out what's correct?

Episode 6 was a two hour episode when it first aired. It was split and made a two-parter when the show made it to syndication. I think the rule is we stick with the original format?

Yes, we do. So the only thing I see right now is to remove the duplicate title for episode 7 in the German translation and add each following title to the episode before. I think all the other translations are empty - and then we can delete the last episode.
Do you want me to do it? I'm not sure if you speak German?!?

I didn't even notice the German translations! (lol). Yeah, go for it. I'll keep working on the other seasons. The whole series is a hot mess with strange air dates and no data.

Only the German titles of the translations are left -> @Samara already removed the descriptions a few days ago (copyright issue in Germany).
Done. Only 22 episodes left in season 1: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/954-the-rockford-files/season/1
I think I can tell you why regarding the air dates! I looked into the change history of a few episodes, and the user who often added the dates first, CaptainBarnius, edited in German. Those dates are in fact the first German air dates, not the English one's. I checked with a German episodes listing -> they match very often. I assume this user did this for all seasons ...
By the way, there are still a few weird dates in season 1. But I didn't want to change those because I'm not sure if they're official and what sources you use? Maybe you can take a look if they're correct? If not, just change them - you don't have to reply. Here we go:
Season one is done!

I changed the dates on Season 1 (and most of 2 so far) based on IMDB. I think if those 4 episodes you list are wrong, it's my fault and should match IMDB (which seems pretty accurate on these). Agreed?

Yes, I agree. So, I corrected the dates of episodes 6, 12 and 17 and locked all the data for the episodes of season 1 -> except for episode 1. The problem:
IMDb says 27 March 1974.
TVDb and epguides say 13 September 1974.
Wikipedia says that the air date in March was for the movie tv pilot -> I'm not sure if/when the pilot aired originally? Because Wikipedia also says that the syndicated version of this pilot was retitled "Backlash of the Hunter" -> I'm not sure when this happened. Nevertheless, you can find this in the special season here on TMDb and on TVDb with the date in March.
I can't solve this - I don't know the content.
I also took a look at season 2 and all dates. The only questionable difference I noticed is episode 11:
Both IMDb and Wikipedia say 28 November 1975.
Both TVDb and epguides say 29 November 1975.
I'm not sure what's correct?!?
