Discuss Legends of the Lost with Megan Fox

Its interesting to see a programme trying to bridge hard science with mainstream appeal through its presenter. The first half lays out the groundwork that it is irrefutable that human populations were in the Americas before the arrival of what are now called 'native' Americans. But it then proceeds to go downhill.

Firstly it doesn't really explore the accepted theory of how these peoples will have arrived (by boat up the asian Pacific coast, spreading slowly over thousands of years until they sailed/ rowed/ drifted into Alaska and down the American Pacific coast).

Then it introduces us to the fascinating oral tradition of different Native American groups that speaks to there being human like populations sharing the land with them. But instead of exploring the very real likelihood of this being pre-existing homo-sapien / Denisovan cross-breeds -, it goes down the bizarre theory of it being indigenous giants, possibly pure Denisovans.

The fact is magnificently wondrous enough without going into the realms of science fiction. There are no grounds for believing there could possibly have been pure Denisovan populations in the Americas prior to the arrival of humans.

Still, I'll watch the remaining episodes just for the pure entertainment of a rare show that bothers to address this unfolding drama of the migrations and interbreeding of humanoid peoples.

But what's up with Megan Fox?

Its the first time I've seen her in anything. She did fine and was pleasantly understated rather than cooing at everything every five seconds. I'm not sure that 'super cool' is an approved archaeological term though.
