Very woke, though it has toned down some. The White Lighter's name is Harry, not Nigel.
SPOILERS
Other than issues that have been discussed in other forums, I think they are rushing things. In the original version the sisters went most of the first season before they found out about White Lighters and the Elders. Here, Harry reveals himself immediately. They have already started the Phoebe/Cole story line that didn't start until the third season. I'm not sure if they are afraid of cancellation or if they just don't have the patience to let the story develop.
I'm in favor of them not following the trajectory of the original show. But I would prefer that the sisters be allowed to develop a bit before the broader universe is revealed. Also, every diverse element is forced and brought to the fore so you notice it. The original was incredibly diverse but it was easy. It just was. Characters of many races and both genders were introduced without drawing overt attention to them. It was just seen as natural that people were white, black, asian, men and women, young, middle aged and old.
I am liking this how. The sisters are a different culture than the previous ones and one of the sisters being a lesbian is a nice touch. I love the characters and the stories.
I also like that is show is not following the original word for word. That would make it silly to even watch this one.

Interesting. Was the politics all over the place? Was there mystery and suspense? Do you think Nigel is evil?
