Discuss Ozark

I usually don't like anything Jason Bateman is in but he's perfect in this role.

I call BS. Just another Breaking Bad ripoff/copycat wanna be trying to "imitate" something far better and more original, with some minor alterations to change face and try to fool some. Give me a break.

As an artist I can't stand such blatant attempts to rip off others' ideas because they can't come up with anything original for themselves. It's one of the lowest forms of art when a copycat tries to imitate something far superior and it happens all too often in Hollywood today.

Ugh IMDB, get that no forum site away from here.

:-) I hear you! IMDb is still a source of info, and being a source is where they've doubled down, so they still offer that value. But, for the conversation, yes, TMDb is my new home.

So I guess you think most of Shakespeare's plays are terrible junk since they're nearly all based on bits and pieces of older stories.

Actually, I was surprised the show was actually pretty good. Was looking for someone to convince me otherwise because this was what many reviews I read indicated. But when I tuned in it was better than expected. But it still was a BB imitation, which is probably not a bad thing for marketing and word of mouth, and not as effective.

Also, one big thing I've since learned is that the show's portrayal of the actual Ozarks is an insult to the people who live and vacation there; they're affluent, or at least well off types and it's really nice and developed along the lake, rather than rednecks, trash, and hillbillies with 'deep south' accents the show gives off. That's a big flaw and offensive, false and distorting reality for a show that tries to stay in line with it. But personally, I think the show was decent. I gave it a 7.
