What I like about the show is that death doesn't close the door completely.

Agreed!! I don't recall them stating she passed away--she could have dumped the baby on his doorstep and took off with the wrong crowd. She was more of a partier, he wasn't.

You know, I had assumed she died too...like from an overdose or something.

But it seems like William may have been the more responsible of the two whereas the baby was concerned. He knew that they were both too messed up to care for an infant and so he made the decision.

What I wonder now is if she ever blamed him for taking and giving their child away. So the adopted mother's fears of the biological parent wanting her child back could have been something they faced.

I can't wait to see the back stories. This show is superbly written and wonderfully acted!

Poor Randall, if she does resurface. Poor guy already lost 2 Fathers, possibly his job----unless he heeds William's sound advice and doesn't take it all so seriously. Maybe Randall will walk on his own terms. To lose 2 beloved Fathers and then reunited with a woman who had no parts in his life....At least we know William longed for his son from day 1; what he did by giving him to the firehouse was an act of love. Laurel probably didn't care then, as she was taking drugs and wasn't in the mental state to do so...If she was still around now, as a woman who may have found her way in time, she may be wondering.

Randall's job is secure. He's taking scheduled time off to deal with himself and family. He's too valuable to be discarded.

In the event that things are shaky...he can start his own company. The man is brilliant.

Also, the guy who he talked from jumping could be a bigwig and might save him if he is in danger of losing his job. I agree he is valued, but that fellow that was brought in to be Randall's partner seems rather unsavory at times.

Good point on the attempted jumper. I forgot about that.

Yeah, it's possible about his work partner. But I actually think that he may turn out to be a good guy. He did a nice thing with taking over the talking points on that presentation proposal. He could have let Randall crash and burn. Randall puts way too much pressure on himself.

I'm going to hold the jury out on that for further observation. Nevertheless, good call.

Agreed on the point of his partner helping him through that important presentation. I am hoping that maybe with all he learned in his short time with William, it will help calm his anxieties and he will stop making the bed so much :)

Ditto. 👍

Randall just needs too get a helmet with a temple shiatsu massager that plays a recorded, "just breath" and he'll do fine.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it confirmed that his biological mom died during childbirth, that's why William dropped him off at the fire station?

Still trying to recall. I will have to go back and see. I just assumed she was still living; then the article came about regarding her coming back, possibly.

Now, I am confused; this one says Laurel died whilst giving birth, presumably...

Same.

@autumnsquirrel Well it is a Wiki page which can be edited so I guess you can't believe everything you read online.
