Couldn't they have fixed this in casting?

@Daddie0 I just did a search for Sosie Bacon (the actress that played the VERY tattooed Skye Miller) and she has nothing at all that extreme so it seems it was for the production. I've never read the book so I am not sure if this was how the character was described or if it was a creative translation but, the actress herself from what I could see only has a small tree tatted on her back.

Brandon Flynn, the actor that plays Justin Foley, has a semicolon on his wrist but, nothing like what we see on his chest.

Similar Alisha Boe (Jessica Davis) and Tommy Dorfman (Ryan Shaver ) have the semicolon tats.

In case anyone is curious what the semicolon tattoo means, it's part of Project Semicolon, a movement founded by Amy Bleuel in memory of her father who committed suicide. It was to represent the fact that "your story isn't over yet." Earlier this year, Amy also committed suicide at the age of 31.

Off topic -- Also, I love all of the commenters on this page. You're all from my era! LOL pagers. My husband was just talking about the "Zach Morris cell phone" and how today's technology seems to be headed back to those giant things. Just recently, I seriously thought someone in the grocery store was holding a tablet to their ear. It was a phone. Why are they getting that big?? /end rant

Wow! Thanks for the followup (research?!?!), so it was for production. Then the next question that begs is, as you have said, was this something in the creative mind of the author/screenwriter, or were they trying to reflect a reality at some high schools? Being from a smaller town, we don't see anything near that elaborate to my knowledge, but I guess it's possible. I would think most tattoo artists wouldn't even be willing to put that much ink on a 16, 17 or 18 year old. Maybe I'm wrong. :)

As to the semicolon thing, it's funny because when you mentioned three (!) in a row, I googled what it was about before coming back to finish your post where you immediately answer that question! Sad about Amy taking her own life. Now I'm wondering if these actors got them because of their involvement with this project or already had a passion for it. The instagram tat looks fresh.

So many questions that lead to more questions, lol. Not that they all have to be answered!

You're very welcome relaxed

It would be interesting for someone who has read the book to chime in on whether or not the characters were described as being so tattooed or if the production wanted to relate to a modern audience.

Brandon Flynn's tattoo is new as you said. In his Instagram post he mentions he got it colored blue for Hannah's nail polish.

The tattoo's on this show are ridiculous almost every main character has one this cant be normal for high school or even close.

Isn't it because Justin Bieber is covered in them? :o)
