So I watched first episode and I have mixed feelings, more towards negative, and I want to know if it's worth my time continuing watching this. I don't usually like teenage high school dramas, almost always they are filled with stupid teens and their stupid problems. So if it is just a story about cyber bullying, teen suicide and coping with grief, while providing an insight about teen life and their high school problems, I prefer to skip the rest of it. I recognize the intrigue of the chosen story telling form and some mystery in expectation of revealing secrets, but if the general story will not rise above "I am special, here is my teen life adventures full of cute boys and romance" level, I am not interested.

I have enjoyed it. Just finished episode 11. The clay character hits pretty close to home in regards to his awkwardness and lack of confidence

Well, my question was more if the show stays in the same area of teen drama or does it turn to be something more meaningful and interesting.

The show deals with very serious issues, but it remains teen drama. Sounds like it isn't for you, but don't compare it to Gossip Girl or 90210. It is much more serious than those teen dramas.

Trent is right. This isn't Donna Martin (played by the reprehensible tori spelling) getting drunk or David silver rapping at the peach pit while Nat is sitting in the corner with a tablecloth over his waist while he watches Steve sanders and kelly Taylor dancing all while trying to tune out the whiny brat Brenda

I liked your comment about Clay, but maybe it also bothered me the most how he suffered. He was doing the best he could for his emotional development and shyness, yet she criticized him from the grave. Plus she really confused and hurt him when she stopped their big make-out session without explanation. His punishment never seemed to fit his "crime". I guess she did say on the tape that he really didn't deserve a tape, but still I felt bad for him and what it might mean for his future relationships and life in general.

Sounds like you should probably skip it. If you watched the first show and your feelings and thoughts about it were negative...it isn't for you.

You are right. She punished clay for her own neurosis. How was he supposed to know she wanted him to stay when she repeatedly told him to get the F out of her face???

I completely agree with you. When a girl tells me to get the F out of her face more than once, I would go out the F of her face.
But that's the thing with girls. They say things they actually don't want to happen. Hannah told Clay to get out of her face but she actually wanted him to stay.

I can't say for sure if you will like it or not, but I think that the show is done well. It feels more meaningful than normal teenage melodrama.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I will pass on this. However meaningful this show can be compared to other teenage melodramas I don't think it will be enough for me.
Currently watching on TV: Leftovers, Billions, Fargo, Better call Saul, iZombie, Into the Badlands, The Son, The Handmaid's Tale

And why did she force him to sit through the torture of 10 tapes thinking that he was also to blame, only to say on his tape "you don't belong here, you're not to blame, but I wanted you to be part of this story." And here for like weeks he's been angsting wondering what terrible thing he did to her, only to find out he didn't. Yet he's still feeling super guilty for not being more proactive (and being able to read her mind). Poor dude

If I were having sex with someone and they screamed and told me to get the f--- out, you can bet I would be cause you never want to force yourself on someone or seem like you might. I'm not even a guy lol but I still would leave. And follow up later as to why or ask what happened. I mean as a female if I screamed at some guy to get out of my bedroom, I'd have way more respect for someone who DID leave. If someone stayed and persisted/insisted I'd be kinda creeped out. YEah he could have said "what's wrong" or whatever but, he's not a mind reader.....and I'd air on the side of caution and gtfo if I had been him, too! What if she had some deeply buried trauma or PTSD that he had just triggered, etc...? how was he supposed to know

Too much teen angst and bad acting.

I'm interested enough in the story to keep watching although I have serious questions about the premise. I think that is a silly idea to have her kill herself and then whine about why she did it on some cassette tapes.

You've completely misunderstood the whole concept of this show. If you want something to go with your popcorn you can watch Prison Break or House of Cards. Forget the high school clichés, it's just props because it was filmed in the US. Look beyond all that and know that this is real. Kids kill themselves every day over this. Kids get dressed in the morning and then they gun down their fellow students because of this.
This show is important to watch and you might think the acting is bad or whatever, fuck that. The message is clear. Being a teenager today is hazardous and if you don't know exactly how to play the game, you're fucked.
