Hi Banana!
Apologies for the missing explanation. It's quite complicated with this series, they changed its name after season 3. there are 8 seasons, but: the episodes of (tmdb) season 5 are part of season 4 and so on. then there are missing complete seasons as there wouldn't be 8 seasons after merging 4+5 ... does that make sense? Full details available here https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_Magazin_Royale/Episodenliste
You could correct it or just delete 4 to 7 and let me know..
I think if the show only changed a part of the name it can be titled in the seasons level, we have some more examples of this in the database, I can't find the official page for it for now, is there any trusted source except Wikipedia?
Neo Magazin aired in three blocks: October to December 2013, February to April 2014 & October to December 2014. And each block is counted as one season on Wikipedia, Fernsehserien and TMDb.
Neo Magazin Royale aired in two blocks each year: February to June & August/September to December. Wikipedia added each full year as one season (= five seasons). Fernsehserien added the first two blocks as one season each + a new season each fall (= five different seasons). On TMDb, contributors started adding the first 4 block as one season each... and then @item added the "Wikipedia Season 8" as our Season 8 . Hence, we're currently missing all the 2017 and 2018 episodes.
Where can we actually see the official ZDFneo seasons?
Concerning what @banana_girl said, there is plenty of missing episodes. And, @Samara, there is indeed no official listing as there is no dvd or other physical release as well. Then, how you manage that? You, I, whoever could list in a logical manner. Since I saw the tremendous detailed wikipedia entry (dont forget how German people can be related to be aware of tidiness) it just made sense to "copy" and follow the thoughts. Of course I can imagine you guys try to prevent such behaviour.
season 12 should be correct as i remember from watching. Last episode is the most recent episode as they enjoy a summer break atm.
I did some clicking around -> again, not much info. But I guess it depends on how much time you spend digging -> I hit a lot of dead ends, but then a page like this came up:
This should prove at least the original air dates for the earlier shows.
However: I don't see any titles for the episodes and I don't see any seasons? Are those seasons perhaps not official?!? It could be that the seasons basically refer to the production order, and the titles were perhaps added later?!?
EDIT:
A correction regarding the titles of episodes -> here is the first episode on YouTube (31.10.2013):
Starting at 5:22 min, the announcer says: "Neo Magazin - Mit Jan Böhmermann - Folge 1: Die Gefühle fahren Geisterbahn". The last one is the title of the episode - so those titles are official!
Folge 9 is interesting: The announcer says "Folge 2013"!
Folge 10 is interesting -> starting at 6:14 min, the announcer says: "Neo Magazin - Folge 10: Eines Tages My Ass Baby". He does not mention season 2 or "Staffel 2"!
Folge 11 is also without season/Staffel -> I assume that the order in seasons is not official. I don't want to research any further, but I guess you can find all episodes on YouTube (or somewhere else online).
One remark for this one, though -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LylMBo02er4: Starting at 1:07 mins, the anouncer says: "Neo Magazin Royale - Mit Jan Böhmermann - Folge 2". Which means when they changed the title of the show, they began counting again from no. 1! This could mean it's a different show altogether?!?
The official Facebook and Twitter accounts also appear to reboot the season count (S1 Feb 2015, S2 in Jan 2016):
Yes, it looks like it. It begs the question if TMDb should have 2 separate entries? I'm not very familiar with the show and don't have much time for research at the moment. But there are websites who do this:
This is not official -> it just shows that some people decided to split the shows. If someone has time -> it would be interesting to look for old reviews of the first episode of "Neo Magazin Royale" in February 2015 and how it was described? I only found this one after a quick search:
"Obwohl sich laut Moderator Jan Böhmermann im Vergleich zu seiner alten Sendung nicht sonderlich viel ändern sollte, waren die Erwartungen an seine neue Sendung im Vorfeld recht hoch."
The reviewer of this article clearly speaks of a new show, not a continuation of the old one! It would be interesting to find more articles around this time and look for clues how this was described ...
This one is very interesting! The first comment on this post that shows up for me is by "Steffen Ritter" -> and he wrote:
"Welcher Geistesgestörte zählt bei Euch die Staffeln? Entweder in Halbjahren oder jährlich aber an der Sommerpause orientiert. Also wenn, dann DRITTE Staffel ... da kann Mr. Wintershit noch so viel Blut oder Durchfall heulen!!!11!!!elf!!1"
It's basically describing our problem regarding the order of the seasons/episodes. And this is the answer by "NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE":
"Wir können machen was wir wollen! Wir können sogar einfach mit römischen Zahlen weitermachen! Oder unsere Staffeln wie Google nach Süßigkeiten benennen!!!!1!! Oder Hipstergetränken!!! NEO MAGAZIN ROYALE LITSCHI-MANGO-SMOOTHIE!!!!elf!1!!:"
@item mentioned in the last post above that the host "would be more than amazed things arent quite clear" -> and this seems to be very true. The people of the show play with words, orders, conventions etc. - and it would make sense that they even defy clarity within the numbering of their episodes/seasons. I begin to think that the effort to find the "real" order won't be satisfying -> because there is none intended. From the clues that you found in the tweets and facebook posts, it looks like this:
This looks weird, but I had an idea: When they started with the new show, they presented it as new season, Staffel 1 -> for the whole calender year. But later, they included the older show and made a new order per year:
That's the best I can come up with -> but this is hypothetical. I do think it's a waste of time to find the "real" order -> there is none, or at least none that is consistent. Which begs the question: Why don't we put all episodes into 1 season?!?
By the way: They also go against conventions regarding the titles of the episodes. I already wrote that the announcer of Folge 9 says "Folge 2013" instead of nine. But there's also something different with the title of Folge 6. The announcer triples the number: "Folge 666 I hit you like wrecking bells". Which probably means that the numeration ("Folge XYZ") should be included into all episode titles, because it belongs to the title. I assume this is intentional, but I'm not sure about it.

Ah yes, I see the issue now.

there is no official site for the moment listing the episodes, I don't know if this site https://www.moviepilot.de/serie/neo-magazin-royale/staffel/12 has the right sequence ( episodes from 2019) and https://www.moviepilot.de/serie/neo-magazin-royale/staffel/11 2018 https://www.moviepilot.de/serie/neo-magazin-royale

I couldn't find much -> but there's a link called "Alle Sendetermine" that leads to old archive pages of ZDF:
