So how should the new season be considered that is coming out on March 4th of 2019? As a second season or a sister show? The name changed from Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey to Cosmos (2014) and again to Cosmos: Possible Worlds. This season is also coming out on a different network. But still hosted by Tyson. TheTVDB, TheMovieDB, and IMDB all handle this differently with multiple entrees for the same series.

Cosmos: Possible Worlds will still air on Fox.Fox's official website refers to Possible World as the new season of Cosmos, so I think it is correct to list it as the second season.

Is Possible Worlds the title of season 2 or has the whole show title been changed to Cosmos: Possible Worlds? I originally thought the sub title A Spacetime Odyssey was to distinguise from the original Carl Sagan show and not the title of season 1. So it is all getting confusing.

IMDB, TVDB, and Trakt all consider this to be a new series. FOX says in its description that this is the '3rd' season of Cosmos and have included the original Carl Sagan release to be season 1 - however they also list Comos: Possible Worlds as an independent show in their show listings. Possible Worlds should be considered a new series - not season 2 or 3 due the nature and independent production of the series.

Cosmos - Possible Worlds is a new tv show ! Not the S03 of an old tv show ... Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey to Cosmos and Cosmos - Possible worlds have differents titles and should be considered as different show. Thanks

I'm new here. But we must decide. If is the second season, then is the THIRD season, because the original Cosmos (1980) must be the first. So, I think that must be a new series.

The Internet has moved on and already decided it is a new series. Scene considers it a new series. The user of IMDB, TMDB, and TVDB has decided it a new series. Mods here and TVDM have decided to ignore the issue and point at each other's sites to prove they are right. Amazon, TV Guide, and IMDB all consider it a new series as does the show's creators.
