Extra Details: The currently locked Overview description would benefit from a combination of tweaking and polishing. Unlike how it presently reads, a preferable text could read:

"American competition television series in which dancers vie for exposure and recognition and with hopes of securing, in addition to a monetary prize, professional opportunities in the world of dance and entertainment."

During certain seasons a competing dancer or two has been an already professional dancer who was a signed member of a ballet company or whatever, but who chose to compete on the show in hopes of elevating their professional standing.

Meanwhile, too, the monetary prize is normally the primary (in addition to the public recognition and adulation) reward of winning, in addition to usually a magazine cover, and sometimes an opportunity to appear in an ad campaign, but not usually a professional contract (such as dancing wise) otherwise. So how I've worded the text above covers all bases effectively, I think.
