Why merge into a single season?

I see that in other discussions, you're talking about merging the whole series into a single season to "respect the original Japanese broadcast".
Why merge into a single season when, on the official website, the series is divided into several parts?
Dividing the series into several parts makes things much clearer.

I quote our rules : "Long-running series with continuous episode numbers (e.g. 867, 868, 869) are added as a single season."
Story arcs aren't seasons.
