Discuss Gunsmoke

I’m kind of confused about something: Whenever Matt or one of his deputies chases an outlaw into Mexico, in relation of where Mexico is to Kansas, how do any of them get to the border? Do they (the outlaw as well) ride a train down there then ride into Mexico?

If you checkout some of the old maps from way-back-when; it seems that once upon a time you couldn't spit without hitting Mexico's border. Considering (also read) that once upon a time 10 US states (including Kansas face_with_monocle ) were part of Mexico.

Don't know; but, (at the time this show is set) maybe all Matt would have had to do...with those long legs...is "cross the street" to get to the border.

NOTE TO FACT CHECKERS: (Guessing about the time in which the show is set.)

The show is set in the 1870s. Texas had been formed by then and seemed like a buffer between Kansas and Mexico.
