Shouldn't we consider Robotech season 2 as being just an alternate version of this show ? It was my opinion when I have added this special episode here.

I quote AniDB: "Robotech Masters is the butchered US version of Southern Cross done by Harmony Gold. It was dubbed, heavily edited and the plot was completely rewritten. Aside from the very first episode of Robotech Masters (Episode 37 of Robotech global) the actual episodecount remained, as did the rough episodestructure. Episode 37 was cut together from bits of Macross and southern cross to fill the gap of inconsistences."

I quote the Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross Wikipedia page: "It was adapted as "The Masters Saga" or the "Second Generation" of the American TV series Robotech. "

I quote the Robotech Wikipedia page: "Robotech is a story adapted with edited content and revised dialogue from the animation of three different mecha anime series: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross from 1982, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross from 1984, and Genesis Climber Mospeada from 1983. Harmony Gold's cited reasoning for combining these unrelated series was its decision to market Macross for US-American weekday syndication television, which required a minimum of 65 episodes at the time (thirteen weeks at five episodes per week). Macross and the two other series each had fewer episodes than required since they originally aired in Japan as a weekly series."

The problem is a little more global as the other 2 Robotech seasons are also adaptations.

As I don't want to be at the same time judge and part, I have ask another moderator to come and have a look.

There are some heavy differences, so I still believe they should be separate.

The US version is such a frankensteined mess. I don't think we have much choice here.

If we keep the US version (Robotech) as a separate series, then the special episode here should be removed... Done.

When we have process this report in 2022, we forgot to remove the Robotech title from the French translation. This is now done.
