I finished binge watching this a couple of weeks ago. I love this show! I can't remember why I didn't watch it while it was on. I think we didn't have/couldn't afford cable at the time. I got Amazon Prime and was really happy to see the show on there. My mom used to watch Upstairs/Downstairs back in the 70s/80s. I remember how much she loved it. I'll have to check it out. I've never seen it.
You won't see the beautiful sets and costumes on Up/down, but you will see where DA got a lot of their storylines! That shows i s such an old favorite of mine. I'm talking about Up DOwn from the 70's, not the later incarnation. DA is awesome too!
Hi Anna! I hope you're well!
Nice to run into again sheez. Here are some views I have seen.
A HARLOTS PROGRESS...GREAT STORY WITH THE WONDERFUL TOBY JONES. Based on the life of artist William Hogarth. On Amazon prime.

They got storylines from U/D? That's neat. I'll definitely be checking it out at some point. Yeah it was the 70s U/D that my mom watched.

Gia, Julian Fellowes, the shows creator, probably won't admit to it, but a lot of characters, tropes, and plots were very similar to Up DOwn!

I like Toby, so I'll check it out. I'm still finding great stuff on YouTube! Right now I'm watching "Fall of Eagles" about the demise of three major ruling families in Europe. So many period dramas on YouTube, God bless the lovely people who take the time to upload them!
For War and Peace with Anthony Hopkins, I just searched war and Peace. Same with Fall of Eagles. I found some shows searching bbc period drama. But to learn about shows I may never have heard of, I did an internet search: favorite Masterpiece Theater, or best bbc period programs. I learned of many shows I never heard of. Of course, they're not all available on YouTube, but many are. Good luck!
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Upstairs downstairs is excellent, similar to D.A The actors in DA make it unforgettable.
