So we hear from transporter inventor Emory Erickson that the transporter "certainly" actually moves the individual, not just making a copy etc.
As discussed here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQZzSrAIp-E
But that's really just an assertion, and he certainly couldn't have proven it since we see "later" (earlier to us, since it was the TOS and TNG series-es) that his assertion was false.
They probably wrote that just because they thought they could settle the question, but it fails.
And in a fictional sense, I wonder how Erickson would respond if confronted with the Duplicate Kirks from TOS and the Duplicate Rikers from TNG.

No no no we are not going to have the transporter discussion AGAIN the transporter converts mass into energy and vice versa how it converts the mass into energy is something for future scientists to discover but there has been a real life experiment where scientists managed to transport a photon and it didn't involve making copies.

Even if they could prove that it was the same photon - and how WOULD you prove that, exactly? - it doesn't necessarily follow that you can convert a person to photons, transfer the photons to another location perhaps hundreds or thousands of miles (or light-years, in the Jar Jar Abrams movie) away, and then convert them back into the same person. Or that you could do so without an elaborate mechanism at both ends. Or that you could do so and end up with TWO of the same person at the other end... Or that you could do so and end up with a person that is a de-aged version of themself...

Don't know quantum physics is not my specialty but I guess they can prove it.

I'm sure they CLAIM they can prove it, but it's based on assumptions that nobody knows for sure.

Hey they are scientist I think they understand better what they are doing than either one of us.

They might understand their theories, but that doesn't prove that their theories are correct.

They had a whole scientific set up while doing their test.

I'm sure they had many setups over years. I just don't believe that any of their setups could prove that some photon that goes into something is the exact same photon that comes out the other end, or whatever.

Hey these were pretty smart guys I think they knew what they were talking about

"Smart guys" also have put together climate models that don't even work in reverse. That is, they fail to "predict" what has ALREADY HAPPENED. And yet we're supposed to believe what they predict for the FUTURE???
