What if the culture changes in the US?

For example:

The same could be said about Germany before Hilter and the Nazis rose to power. It wasn't okay to kill Jews before Hitler came into power but with his propaganda and power, it soon became okay.

Yes, if the whole nation of USA changes then the whole nation...will change... (duh! confused grey_question ) Which misses the point that you cant compare Uganda to America in terms of their stance on gays the whole culture of the US would have to change to ever conceivably have it be acceptable on a legal level for gays to be killed. This isn't just two countries that have similar stance on gays but one has a few bad laws. No, it's two countries with very different stances on gays which is why there is a difference in the injustice allowed against gays in one country over the other.

That's like saying, "Oh, Germany and [insert random country that wasn't anti-Semitic] are basically the same 'cause the other country could also end up like Germany...". Well, of course it can. But the point is, it isn't!

My overall problems with this season:

1) I don't feel like I got to know the teams that well. Maybe too much canned voice-over confessionals and too much montages & not enough raw footage of team members interacting with each other/in the midst of doing the challenge. I always felt like, you were never really watching the teams do the challenge, only seeing them start it then finish it- and you could always tell my the beat/rhythm of the editing/episode when a team was struggling and when a team is just about to finish a task.

2) I just don't feel like the challenges were all that interesting or challenging. I also felt like, and I'm not sure if its just me, but did all the legs kinda feel....short? Like they were all missing another detour or roadblock... My reaction for most of the episodes when the first team would read the 'race to the pitstop' clue was, "wait, already? that's it?".

3) No offense (to the teams), but since this was a Big Brother vs. Survivor vs. Amazing Race theme, it would've been nice if they got Survivor and Big Brother teams that would actually be tough/level competition to the Amazing Race teams. I mean tbh, from the beginning I was pretty sure it was very very unlikely any of the non-race teams would make it to the end/very far or win and it pretty much played exactly that way (if not, even more than I expected).

I think those were my main problems? I still enjoyed the season, and was happy with the winners. I just feel like this season for me is quiet forgettable.

  1. Perhaps the producers assumed that we knew the teams pretty well since they have been on other seasons or shows?

  2. I agree. Results might have been different if you had, say Malcolm and Joe, or another pairing of Survivor physical players. I'm sure there are examples from BB as well, but I stopped watching a long time ago.

Exactly.

I felt as if I knew the teams. I just wish the challenges were more challenging.

I felt the same way, but I guess they are doing this so filming doesn't go too long. I can remember back in the day filming went into the night. Personally, I liked that, but I guess AM is on a budget.

Well, Rachel (BB) won and they invited her back to the race. I thought Janel (BB) stood a good chance, because she was quite physical on BB. However, they could have done better w/the Survivor contestants, who were all subpar.
