Yes I knew that be next step. Roseanne forgot the show must go on. No "star" is irreplaceable. She thought she could say and do whatever she wanted without consequences. Now she knows and she won't be making a comeback.
They are thinking about it. Could be a hit or miss. Many shows have survived the loss of their "star" cast changes have always been a part of the business.
I really hope they don't do it. Like I said, it's just depressing. And if they do, no way that show will run for very long.
You just hit on something rather intriguing.
Somewhere between a movie, and a long-running tv show, is a tv show that is geared more directly to "the times", a show that can be designed to run for just a season or two, make its statement within the current socio-political milieu, and then drop the mike when it's done.
Netflix might be just the platform for this.
So, maybe the new Roseanne need not attempt to be a long-running show. Maybe it can speak to these times in a succinct manner...shucks, they could even keep Roseanne herself in it and write plots that somehow play out her opinions, who in the family agrees or not, and why...
I think everyone should just get over it. Notice that all these celebrities publicly crucify their president on all social media and that's ok but as soon as a conservative has an opinion then the whole world comes to an end. It's ridiculous but very typical of liberals/democrats. It's my opinion that firing her and cancelling her show because she made a stupid comment is just plain childish.

Criticizing what someone does or says is different than criticizing what someone is. Understand the difference.
but as soon as a conservative has an opinion
Roseanne is not being taken to task for being a conservative, or for having an opinion. Being conservative and having opinions are both okay. She's being taken to task for making racist comments. Racism is not okay. Understand the difference.
very typical of liberals/democrats.
Your labelling is awfully convenient. Conservatives lost their minds for all kinds of things Obama did/said/did not do/did not say/was/was not/was alleged to have been. But, more than this, it is you that is dragging this conversation over into politics. Until you, this conversation had been primarily consensus that Roseanne's racism was intolerable, the network did the right thing, and we hope the other actors don't their jobs because of Roseanne's BS, and I'm sure there were both liberals and conservatives in this conversation sharing similar concepts of right and wrong. Now you come along to solicit tears for hard-done-by conservatives and take shots at liberals/democrats?
It's my opinion that firing her and cancelling her show because she made a stupid comment is just plain childish.
Thanks for sharing your opinion, to which you are entitled. But, the growing public opinion these days is that it is too convenient and morally no longer acceptable to attempt to dismiss or downplay "a stupid comment" as such. It came from somewhere, is likely not in isolation, and speaks to a bigger social issue. The cast members were turning away from this show, because of her, before the network cancelled. They have their opinions, too. And the network did what it did because it has opinions too. All those people's opinions resonate with taking stands against racism.
You want a better example of childish? How about holding Roseanne accountable for the way she jeopardized the livelihoods of all her cast by so selfishly thinking she can just spew out of her mouth whatever crap she wants. That's the height of petulance. She's not a 6 year old in the sandbox, but she's sure acting like it. What, mature, grown, patriotic adult would dare to do what she did with the national anthem? Seriously, if you want to talk childish, there's plenty to discuss about Roseanne, instead of deflecting to talk about the people acting responsibly in dealing head on with her crap.

Whatever you think. She said someone looked like an ape......I don't call that a racial slur. Her excuse that it was the sleeping pills during her apology was very lame for sure but I didn't take her comment as racist. People like to get their knickers in a knot over every little thing these days. I still don't think it warranted cancelling her show.........compared to the real racist crap that's on tv these days what she said was pretty mild. Yes you are all welcome to your opinions just as I am. You have a lovely day now.

It is a good job then that the legislators did not leave the definition of racism to you then!

Not just someone - specifically a black woman. Equating black people to apes is racist/ a racial slur and that is not just an opinion it is truth.
Glad you voiced your opinion and I hope your day is lovely too.
