Item: BLUE EYE SAMURAI
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: I don't think Season 1 needs to be renamed with the series name. IMHO that doesn't make much sense.

It makes zero sense. Netflix never gave a name for season 1, at least not in any official way and not at the time of premiere. But apparently, there's always someone who knows better than the show's owners.

So it would probably be better to remove the title from the season I think. Unfortunately the corresponding field is locked. Thanks!

Yes it did. This archive from Nov. 3, 2023, the day the show premiered, has "BLUE EYE SAMURAI" as the season name. It was only changed to "Season 1" (archive is from Dec. 18, 2023) after the series was renewed on Dec. 15, 2023.

This means nothing. Basically, every limited series on Netflix has the show's name displayed in place of the season's name. Just 3 random examples https://postimg.cc/gallery/ys4rPtZ This absolutely doesn't mean that this is the official name of the season. This is just the way their system works when there's only one season. In rare cases it says there "Limited series", but mostly just the show's name. When the show is occasionally renewed, it changes to Season 1.
I suppose now you're gonna go and update the season names of all those limited series out there :D

You said Netflix never gave a name for season 1 at the time of premiere and I gave you proof that you were wrong and now you're saying the proof I provided you means nothing because of some other reason? If those were the season titles at the time of release on Netflix, then yeah, those should also be the season titles on here as well.

Specific reasons aside, I don't get the sense to have a season with exactly the same name as the series. Also, as you said, the season has been renamed to "Season 1" by Netflix itself, so why not replicate the same here too?

Because the change was made after the fact. Just like how Netflix changed the title of the first season of Stranger Things from "Season 1" to "Stranger Things" after the fact but it's still titled "Season 1" on the database.

How is that a proof? Where exactly does it say that it is the name of season 1 and not just a repeat of the show's name, which could be found in several places all over the page? Is it backed up by any official announcement, promo material, or any other piece of official information, saying that season 1 is given the same name as the show? So far this is just your assumption. If this really was the name of the season, they wouldn't change it just because a new season was announced. Is it just a mysterious coincidence that 99% of all limited series on Netflix have the show name as the season name as well, but they never announce that officially?
Can we have another opinion here? Because it was proven already that your interpretation of the rules is not always correct. I wonder what other mods think about that, considering that it potentially affects the majority of Netflix's limited series.

Regardless of Netflix's timing in renaming seasons (if they really do, as Jim pointed out), don't you also find it pointless to have seasons with the exact same name as the series?

Did you even look at the archives? Once again, this is the season name used on the day of release until Dec. 8, 2023, the last archive pre-change, and this is the season name now. And something I'm just realizing is that the season name hasn't even changed while logged in; it's still "BLUE EYE SAMURAI" as of a few minutes ago. It only changed if you view the show's page while logged out.
Yes, they would and they have. How do you explain the name of Stranger Things season 1 going from "Season 1" to "Stranger Things" if the season name wasn't changed?
Here are screenshots showing the first season being renamed from "[Season 1]((https://i.imgur.com/3OlQt9u.png)" to "Stranger Things" in case you are unable to find the season names in the archives.
If it was like that when it originally released, no.

I did. And I still don't see where it says that it's the name of season 1.
Season names are rare, even on broadcast television. When a season is given a specific name, it is usually reflected in some official announcement, promo material etc. But when the network (streamer, whatever) _allegedly _assigns to all (or the majority of) limited series the season name which simply dubs the show name, and without any specific announcement, I find it hard to believe that it is intended to be considered a season name but rather indicates that it is a limited series and it doesn't have seasons, just a limited number of episodes. The Stranger Things example shows that this change was implemented in 2017 sometime between May and September.
This is redundant, and not only absolutely useless for the limited series in general (having "Limited series" or "Miniseries" makes much more sense), but it is also quite confusing for the series that has been renewed, because you're gonna have the show's name for the first season (zero value), and generic "Season 2, 3..." for the subsequent seasons.
Considering that, I'm very interested to hear what other mods think about that matter.
