Yes, but they're also sequels. The guidelines for anime series are explained in the Contribution Bible.

Well... Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ is a direct sequel of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and the two are separate entries. It is exactly the same case for Seed and Destiny. They must be treated the same way.
