Certainly a shocking episode, but I wish a little more was revealed. Sure we get the lecture that fighting is wrong and it's a good lesson. Still we only know Paul Benjamin as a Jewish defense leaguer who offers protection for the family. I like to hear more of how the fued got started, who was he fighting against unless it's the local kkk members that Archie almost ends up joining? He said he dealt with them, but when and how?
I like how he finds with Archie and using the bulbie nickname on him. He even sees Mike's attempts at lecturing him in a good light. The ending is shocking, but it doesn't feel that powerful as they are so busy arguing about war making only war we never get into the base of what started it, what is the ideology and what the stakes are.

If I'm not mistaken, this episode is the only point in the show that even touches upon the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I find that interesting, given that both the Yom Kippur War and the Camp David Accords happened during the show's run. I guess it just wasn't as hot a topic in the 1970s as it is today.
Even in this episode, the connection is very slight. The group that's based on the JDL isn't seen fighting for Israel, it's seen fighting an American neo-Nazi group. It's roughly like the antifa who have been in the news lately.
