Since having a baby, provocative disc jockey Jimmy (Dan Cortese) and his wife, Beth (Bianca Kajlich), have fallen into a droll routine. It's been nearly five months since they've had sex, and neither of them have gotten a night out since baby Otis was born. After a long night, Jimmy yawns on-air, which makes his coworkers argue that he's ""losing his edge"" - an argument that's solidified when he skips out on a long-awaited bachelor party so that Beth can have a night out with the girls. But his buddies have other plans - they crash his night of baby-sitting, moving the bachelor party to his apartment.

In an attempt to find other couples with whom they have something in common with, Beth invites over a guy that she knows from their baby yoga class... unaware that he's gay. Meanwhile, Jimmy invites Carl over to watch the football game, but Carl finds he's being ignored as Jimmy spends the afternoon bonding with his new gay friends.

Jimmy succumbs to peer pressure when he smokes a joint during poker night, but he gets busted by Beth for not telling her about it when they apply for insurance and the agent wants a urine sample. Beth is initially irritated by Jimmy explanation of the subtle differences between a lie and an omission -- until she decides to omit an incident that happened with Otis.

After making on-air jokes about the station's management and hookers, Jimmy and Carl get bumped to the graveyard shift. Without consulting Jimmy, Carl announces that they are quitting, so when Jimmy confronts Carl about making the decision without him, the two decide to go their separate ways. But when Jimmy contemplates taking a job in Alaska, Beth decides to intervene.

Beth joins a mommy group and plans to make a good impression on the other mothers, but her hopes are dashed when the mothers tune in to The Jimmy and Carl Show on the day Kevin lights a ""zorch"" on air. This leads a group of college listeners to having a ""zorch contest"" (lighting their own gas on fire) which results in a bunch of guys in the ER with ""singed sphincters,"" so a guilt-ridden Jimmy sets out to ""rectify"" the situation.

When a fussy Otis gets the Cox's booed out of a movie theatre, they decide to throw a formal dinner party (with Jello shots) for their friends. But the day of the party, Otis becomes sick and unwittingly gives everyone pinkeye... the day before a magazine photographer arrives to shoot Jimmy and Carl for an article on the 25 Hottest People in Denver.

When Jimmy and Carl head to Aspen for a DJ convention, they renew their childish rivalries with their on-air competitors as Carl rehashes an old fight with Doctor Dre, which his on-air partner Ed Lover tries to break up, and Danny Bonaduce wants payback from Jimmy for a prank he pulled at last year's convention. Meanwhile, ""Uncle"" Carl, who is upset with Jimmy for bringing Beth and Otis, suddenly changes his mind and even offers to baby sit when a beautiful woman sees Carl with Otis. Beth and Jimmy enjoy their day alone -- until guilt sets in when they see Carl and run the other way to avoid dealing with Otis.

Months after Otis's birth, Beth still doesn't feel sexy, so Pam persuades her to take a striptease class after hearing the teacher, Erin, on Jimmy's radio show... much to their surprise, Kevin is also attending the class. Meanwhile, in an attempt to make the house safer for Otis, Jimmy and Carl accidentally baby-proof themselves in the bathroom, leaving Otis unattended.

After Jimmy makes fun of Beth's love of ""An Officer and a Gentleman,"" Beth asks him not to make fun of her and Otis onair. So when actress Jessica Alba (Dark Angel) appears as a guest on Jimmy and Carl's show, her flirtatious behavior becomes more than playful and she makes some advances to Jimmy, not knowing that he's married. Later, Beth finds out that a night of passion with Jimmy was crushed by his fantasies about Jessica Alba, putting Jimmy's relationship to the test.

When Jimmy's old girlfriend Stacey has dinner with Beth and Jimmy, Beth is shocked to learn that her husband had proposed to Stacey several years before. But he gets a rude awakening when Beth decides to turn his office into Otis' new bedroom.

When a TV producer sees something special in Jimmy and Beth's loving and playful relationship, she encourages them to audition as the new hosts for a local TV morning show, but when they go on air, that cheerful rapport turns ugly as they battle out their differences in front of thousands of viewers -- but they change their tune when they're offered the roles of permanent hosts. Jimmy decides that the show may be bad for his image, but he doesn't have the heart to tell Beth, who seems to love her new job.

Meanwhile, Chloe and Carl are in ""Ike and Tina"" mode from the start, battling it out on the radio and internet with Chloe revealing childhood secrets to his audience that Carl would rather have left forgotten.

Jimmy drives everyone crazy trying to create the illusion of the perfect party for the videocamera, while Steve and Kelly anxiously await the time when someone will finally snap...

But Beth feels hurt when Jimmy approaches Tamia's manager and he agrees to sign Pam. Meanwhile, Carl goes on the ""Master Cleanser Program,"" a week-long liquid fast that quickly drains his energy.
