Malloy's friend Lisa is being abused by her husband, but is relucant to leave him. When Adam taunts Doug in a bar ('you don't have the guts to do this to a man', etc), Doug claims Adam assaulted him.

When Malloy witnesses a mob killing, she is reluctant to testify, because she knows that if she does, her life as she knows it will never be the same.

Adam is thrilled when his old army buddy Doc Nash comes to town, until he realises that Doc is dying from exposure to an defoliant named Apple 66. Adam promises Doc that he will expose AlterChem for what they're doing.

Adam is shocked when the woman Grady introduces him to as the love of his past turns out to be a bounty hunter who busted up a good collar earlier. Lisa gets Grady involved in a bounty on a protected witness, and Adam has to fight to keep both of them out of jail.
