Item: Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Duplicate
Extra Details: This OVA series features a character from the series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as the main character, which makes it a non-standalone OVA series. Now the problem is that there are duplicates of these episodes here, here and in the specials of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
"The Run" and "At a Confessional" were screened theatrically too, that's why I assume someone created them as movies, but shouldn't we just use the "Screened theatrically?" field in the episode info in this case?
All of them were also released as single-episode Blu-rays, but the show also got a collector's edition with all 4 of them, so in my opinion the series should be kept and the duplicates deleted.

That is... inconvenient. Based on the anime guidelines, the two movie entries are good. But that would leaves us with three imperfect solutions: a) adding the first two OVAS to the movie section, b) keeping two episodes in the movies section and two in the TV section, or c) keeping two duplicates for the episodes screened theatrically.
I honestly think that would work best. But I was voted out on that point when we wrote the anime guidelines. So let's hear from other mods.

As this is the only one of the three reports of this issue this year alone to get a reply from a mod, it seems the best place to add that though the Kishibe Rohan OVAs are officially part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure TV series, it makes a lot of sense to make an exception to the normal rules because:
A case in which the rules have already been bent for similar reasons is that of Genshiken and Kujibiki Unbalance. Some episodes of each were first released as bonuses on the discs of the other, but it saves a lot of headaching to put the episodes with the same title, story, characters and voice actors together rather than putting them with the series they were first released on the discs of.
So, not that my opinion counts above any other non-mod user, I feel that the Kishibe Rohan OVAs should be a TV series marked as "Video" and not duplicated in the Specials of the JoJo's TV series.
In Japan, they tend to make a clear distinction between what's a theatrical movie (called 映画, literally "projected image"), a TV programme or an OVA that had limited cinema screenings or a TV broadcast of the first episode before its release on home video. It is whatever the companies producing and releasing it say it is.
In this case, they say all the episodes are OVAs, and the theatrical screenings in six cities were a tour, not a release. (There were only one/two screenings in each city, each with in-person appearances by cast and/or staff. It seems that it was more that the screenings were accompanying the in-person appearances.) If those are considered festival screenings, not a general release, then episodes with some theatrical screenings should be marked as such, and not duplicated as movies in themselves.
At the least, as they were only ever shown theatrically together, they should count as one compilation movie, titled 岸辺露伴は動かない 奇譚見聞録 (what the tour was marked as) and marked as "Video" because it was just the existing episodes shown after each other, not edited into a true movie.

Hi, A little up to this discussion, as the duplicate remains between the Specials of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and here. I'm no expert related to these series, but pointing out Netflix released it as a different series, and the 2 series have a different website links. The movie entries have been deleted since then. Thank you.
